Philips 42PFL5603D Only backlight and white led.

    Hello.
This is my second post, the first regarding help.
I have a 42PFL5603D / 12 with the strange problem that i type on the title, it power up but only the backlight and the white led come on, no sound, no menu.
The local TV technician told me that mainboard was faulty, so i order one one from flattvparts and while i was waiting i found another same mainboard but with some missing parts from a friend.
So today the good mainboard arrived and i plug it in position but sadly the same problem, then just from curiosity i plugged the other one with the missing parts and still the same, so i came to the thought that propably the problem is not on the mainboard.
Any help appeciated, i just don't want to hear the words "phillips service center" :p

Upload GOOD and CLEAR pictures of the whole backside of the TV so we can see what we are dealing with. Did you check the DC voltage at both ends of the SMD fuse on the T-CON board. Any one work on this TV before you? Did it just go out by itself or was it hit by the surge? The more info we have and the pictures will help, hard to troubleshoot something remotely without having the TV or the board in front of us to look at, I hope you understand that it is not easy doing remote troubleshooting with not much information.
A lot of people will skip the post when they do not see any pictures of the TV, the boards, etc.

Damn i knew i've done something wrong on first place and thank you so much mate for enlighten me on this.
Yes i measure the fuse twice, it's not blown and i got 11.77v on both sides with panel ON.
Also no leaked/blown caps or any other visible damage on all three boards.
I also checked the set without T-Con connected and i got exactly the same behavior, only backlight on and the white led.
I wanted to upload photos on the First post but it's impossible now so here we are :

Pictures may be too big? use JPG

(max resolution 2000x2000 and 3MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

              Pictures could be clearer - I think I see 2 voltage regulators U992? U903?
can you test those and say what the part numbers are

I'm going to go ahead and just put my guess in that the T-con is bad. You probably aren't getting sound because you either don't have a source connected, or you are on the wrong input. I recently fixed one of these, as well as the Magnavox model with the same issue and T-con as yours. Check the fuse on the T-con board for continuity (the small blue board). Both of mine were blown.

You mean from the PSU ? I'll check and let you know as soon i'll return to home, i'll try to upload more clearer photos too . I'm between PSU and T-Con just because i tested 3 mainboards and all give the same behaviour. Thank you very much for the reply!

I checked the T-Con yesterday but i found only one fuse that unfortunately wasn't blown and had 11.77v on both sides.
Are you sure the T420HW01 V2 T-Con has two fuses ? I made a red circle on the one that i found, please point me the other one.

By both, I meant both T-cons. Not 2 fuses on one. Could be something else dead on them I suppose but that was the case with both mine.

ok got the measurments, the U902 has 0v on the left pin, the middle is on the air by default and the right one has 3.315v on it.
The U903 has 3.319v on the left pin, 0v on the middle and 2.841v on the right.

Oh ok I'll try to use a external source (such a dvd player) to check the sound, i'll found the source with the r/c .Unfortunately mine isn't blown so we will keep searching. Tell me something, your panels had exact the same issue?
Only backlight and white led ?

Doesnt sound right You still measure the stub - it gets its voltage from the pad
thogh 3.1 may be correct but as I asked I need the part number to confirm

The other one U903 seems to be off - looks like it gets pin1 voltage from the
U903 but pin 3 doesnt seem right if its measnt to be 3 its too low and if its meant to be 2.5 its a bit too high again need the part number.

What are the vgma readings on the 22 test points - should be between 20 and 0 vdc

The U902 writes "50117 B-G 72175" and the U903 writes "APR 738" although i can't find anything about it on google, strange.
Sorry but i don't understand very when the english electronic dictionary, what do you mean by "vgma readings" ?
                                  Thanks for helping mate

I cant see them either - perhaps the 902 IS a 1117 so 3.3 would be correct
                                    903 is still a mystery.
VGMA - See top right of the tcon pictures there are 22 test points with
capacitors underneath som have the labels above otherlabels are to the left.
Just start at one end and list the voltage on each one

Ok got them, measured from Left to Right.
                                        The pins 1 until 10 have 0.38v the 11 has 0.50v, the 12 0.20v (suspicious) the 13 until 21 have 0.5v and the 22 has 0.097v (suspicious too).
