Hello all.
I have a US Audio Mix-8 Line Mixer, rack mountable. I changed the fuse and powered on with a current limiter (lightbulb thingy).
I noticed that the voltage regulators (could be 7818-7918 - not sure because the heatsinks covers them) get hot, even though I'm not connecting lines in nor speakers. They get up to 52ºC in a couple of minutes after powering on.
My question: is this normal? My gut tells me it isn't, and I'm thinking about some faulty component pulling too much current. But I have investigated and can't find nothing.
Thanks...

Cambridge Audio Minx x200 - request for schematics or service manual
Hello all. I dunno if this is the right forum for making this request. If not so, I'll be happy to post this somewhere else.
I have a Minx200 which has several shorted caps. I'm guessing a power source and/or regulator short circuit. I can't find schematics for this device. Any help is kindly appreciated. Thank you!

Missed that... Sorry.
Checked the "BIOS guides, methods, resources and tools".
Went to the Dell website to look for the BIOS file. Got an .exe, which I can't use (I'm on Linux)
The chip is a Winbond, 25Q64FVSIQ. Got the .bin file from the IC using the CH341a programmer.
Made two copies of the file, verified both using md5sum command. I attached both files below.
Service Tag for the laptop: 6684L22
Model: Dell Inspiron 14-5448

Correct, I only did the cmos reset. Like I said, I'm a noob in laptop repairs, but I learnt quite a bit in this experience. Thanks to you and mon2 who replied to this
I'll get the programmer... It's pretty cheap and will sure come on handy for other laptop repairs.
Let you know when I have it. Have a good day!

DRAMRST# equals 1.34 V
Hope I measured this one correctly :P. I did it in the back view of the RAM, where pair numbers are printed in the PCB right next to the pins.

Hello, all. Couldn't find either the RC nor the RE components. Searched for the mobo's schematic, but no luck either. There's only a manual service for the laptop, but it wasn't of much use.
I did find the coils.
But in desoldering one of them, I accidentally blew a tiny resistor and now I can't find it.
Those d-mned little things. But in any case, fat chance of ever reinstalling it, as I have no microscope. :P

I got the charger, original one, from the guy who gave me the laptop.
Changed the thermal paste again, installed heatsink and fan. Connected screen and battery. Single RAM in its slot.
Plugged in the charger and turned on. Neither the power nor the battery light turn on. The screen flashes once, very lightly, but shows nothing. And like before, the fan turns off after two seconds, the single beep warning sounds, the CPU and GPU get hot.
Does anyone know the terminals of the battery, so I can check the voltage with a multimeter? Perhaps the charger works,...

Dell Inspiron 14-5448 - fan turns off and mobo keeps running
Hi, everyone. First post of an actual repair. I'm a technician but a complete newbie with laptops.
So I got this Dell Inspiron to play with.
No charger, so I connected to my bench PSU.
The laptop also didn't include: hard disk (I added one of my own for testing, see below) and wireless PCB (but I doubt this could have anything to do with this particular failure).
------What it did (and didn't do)------
1) I turned it on and it powered on. Powered down in 2 seconds by itself.
2) Removed RAM, changed slot. Same...

Hello, everyone. First time here. And I made myself a member, so I could gain access to your attached files.
Bwahahaha!
But I hope I might be able to contribute here, as well.
