Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello! My parents had a Vizio D65U-D2 with the backlight going out after being on for a little while. They got a new TV, and I'm trying to fix the Vizio. I'm incredibly new to repairing electronics. I ordered a new set of boards from ShopJimmy, but that didn't fix the issue. It's now looking like I'll have to try to replace the LED strips, which I'm not comfortable doing. I registered to look at some image attachments that others have posted in hopes that I can find a solution before it gets to that point.
I have a question, maybe someone can help. Would a failing LED strip cause all of the backlight to go out, or would it just show as a darker spot on the tv while the rest of the LEDS are still now?Comment

Hi everyone. Ive been in the utility business for almost 40 years. Now it's time to do something else. I enjoy the hunt of fixing things- research, technical as well as getting hands dirty. I've been into computers since the VIC20 and even programmed computers with data cards. Things are a little different now days so looking forward to having resources like Badcaps to help along the way.
Thanks in advance for any info gainedComment

Hey guys. I'm John. First, a big thank you to all the tech gurus here! Got a free 42" Phillips Plasma by replacing a few 'BadCaps' and could not have done it without the knowledge I garnered here. So i'm already a winner by reading this Forum. Signing up today to be able to view photos on other threads (current project: Sharp Aquos with bars and lines). Hoping to troubleshoot this puppy for the bedroom. :-)
Thanks again!Comment

New from Kingsport TN. I've fixed a few TV's that were simple but I've now ran into a more challenging one (LG) that's not the obvious bad cap. I've enjoyed learning more about all the components as I've dug into this thing and hope to win.Comment
