I spy some Rubies too!! That board has a lot of caps, I haven't seen many loaded that full... If it ever does require recapping, I feel sorry for whoever has to do it..... lol

Fro more updates, nVidia 680i chipset is the latest high end perform for Intel Core 2 Duo system. There is only two types of 680i mothbaord, one is ODM and one is built by nVidia (BBN).

I like how the bridges are linked to the same cooling heatsink.

It needs more PCI slots IMO.

I agree..... Manufacturers are getting VERY skimpy with PCI slots these days..... I have more PCI devices than that board could handle, which means I could never use it.

Agree fully. They're forcing PCIe x1 on us now, although there aren't a whole lot of devices for it. It looks to be going the way of AMR, CNR, etc., though it has more potential.

And I got too many PCI cards, too. It's a nice looking board anyway though.

I would rather have another IDE connector. I don't even use any pci slots on my albatron, two pci slots would be good enough for me. I think it needs at least one more slot because of sound cards, capture cards and other stuff.

Just archiving everything related to bumpgate since most stuff has disappeared from Google. Maybe people will finally take the time to read some of it and stop shouting "reflow gpu" at every occasion but rather try to understand what the real issue is…
Interesting parts about the failure analysis are "Why Nvidia's chips are defective" and "Why Nvidia's duff chips are due to shoddy engineering"

May complete this post at a later date with more details.

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
                by momaka
I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

Apple NVIDIA AGP GeForce 6800 GT Dual Link DVI+DVI outputs 603-6338 missing caps!
                by jpreza
                Hi everyone,

I recently acquired this card from a seller who was selling a PowerMac G5 for parts. He mentioned that the video card was probably broken too.

Upon closer inspection, I can tell the reason why it won't work: it's missing a bunch of CAPS! (it's also missing an inductor - 1.0uH).

It's a nice card as it's one of the few AGP cards that will support 2560 x 1600 resolution on a PowerMac G5 using a 30" Cinema Display.

Looking at the card, it appears to be missing the following:

                1x 1.0uH inductor - orange square
                2x...

                Heathkit IO-4205 Power Supply Caps
                by eryjus
                Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."
