    Just Sayin Hello!!!

Hey All, Newb here to the site and the world of Depot Level PCB repair. I have JUST enough working knowledge of Computers, Audio, Video, TV, LCD Monitors and Mobile Audio Equipment to be dangerous. I often find myself knee deep inside my computer looking around wondering How I've managed to get in so deep AGAIN and more so How I'm going to manage to work my way out for what I promise myself will be the LAST time I'll venture beyond my knowledge and working skills. Ya Right!!! Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained, Besides whats the worst that can happen besides having to dump 3 or 4 hundred hard earned dollars into a perfectly good device, correction...into what ONCE was a perfectly good device!!

Anyway, My name is Les and for the past 20 years (good lord I'm tired!!) I've worked in the Demolition Field and for the last 8 of those have Ran my own Demolition Company Located in Sunny Southern California, Orange County to be exact. Fresh out of High School I Spent the first 10 years of my adult life in the United States Navy, was actually gonna be a career man but Life has Sick way of altering well laid out plans. So Now instead of being a retired military man I find myself busting my hump in the Demo Field and in my free time getting myself into sticky situations in the realm of Technology. Such a Fascinating World it is I must Say.

Any hew, enough of my jabbering I'll see you all around in the forums and such.

    Les

      🛠️ MSI GP75 Leopard MS-17E71 – No Display, Deep BIOS/EC Troubleshooting
      by macabook
      Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
      🧩 Initial Issue
      • Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
      • External display (HDMI) shows

Samsung PN50A550S1FXZA black areas are sometimes a deep red
      by magconpres
      Hi -

First, thanks to everyone on this forum that provides info. I have the power cycling problem that is well covered in other threads and have been able to trouble shoot it enough using info from this forum to isolate the problem to the main board, and suspect I have the capacitor problem that has been covered so well in other posts.

However, since I have the TV opened up, I thought I'd try to ix another problem I've been living with for a while.

In areas of scenes that are completely black I sometimes get a deep red instead of black. It's a very...

JBL Soundbar 2.1 Deep Bass PSU No DC Power Output (Detailed, w/ Schematics)
      by _AcE_
I have two of these soundbars, both with the exact same issue. The soundbars were hit by lightning and no longer power on. The PSU does not output any voltage on the DC side. When plugged into mains, the DC output is a stone-cold 0.0 volts. The AC side of the PSU seems to be functioning correctly (as far as I can tell). When checking the plugged-in PSU with my thermal camera, the OB5269CP PWM controller (U1) and the two resistors (R12 and R13) pulse on and off. These run to the positive DC side of the bridge rectifier (among other components along the way).

      There's no physical damage...

Is there anything I can do with this deep burned motherboard? (GA401IV)
      by bogosort
      Hello,

I got this board that has a really deep burn that heats up and smokes when injecting voltage.

Here are photos of the burned one, a donor board for reference (missing the resistors) and the underside

Is there anything I could do with this?

      Thank you!...

Deep Well Pump Control Box - Start & Run Capacitors & Relay - CB20412CR

Trying to help a small hospital in Haiti...

Is it possible to test the relay without it being hooked up to the pump motor? It is the normal 5-1-2 configuration, as far as I understand it.

Any tips for testing large start/run capacitors of this size and nature?...
