Is there anything I can do with this deep burned motherboard? (GA401IV)

    Hello,

I got this board that has a really deep burn that heats up and smokes when injecting voltage.

Here are photos of the burned one, a donor board for reference (missing the resistors) and the underside

Is there anything I could do with this?

    Thank you!

First check whether cpu is alive or not by measuring resistance to GND on cpu vcore/VCCGT coils.

Looks like you have to drill a big hole into the board to clean it all up. The pcb is burned into charcoal and layers are interconnected. Depending on what is wrong with the donor, i would try to fix it instead, the burn looks too bad.

The resistance to GND on cpu vcore looks normal. (Measured on the coils and before the mosfets)

is the 3rd picture your board or is the working one u have for take picture comparison?

if it's burned only on top side i think it can be fixable.
remove the 2 big caps in the green circle.
blue spot is positive ( i think it is the 19 volt line)
the yellow is the gnd (ground).

remove the 2 big caps , so we can see better if the burning zone is the 19volt rail. after that we can give u more tips on where to cut the first layer.
each time u cut or scrap something clean with ipa (isopropil alchool)

The third picture is from the burned one, unfortunately

then it's promising as it didnt reach the back side

Here it is with the two caps removed.

Blue side shows 2.8 ohms to ground and yellow side 0.2 ohms. Sounds like blue side is indeed 19v rail

do a first layer cut (yellow)
then second green and then blue cut. clean each time with ipa and try to spot each layer. start always from the outsider (yellow) untill second layer is not burned and go on with that way.
check when on blue spot on the other picture i send before the resistance till it goes to OL or high resistance like kiloomh.

do little step each time. clean and scrap the burned zone with or a cutting blade or the tools u have in hand ( small dremel with small rotating scraper (the one that dont scrap much but it's very slow)

I don't have a dremel. Is there a good one you recommend? I'll check on amazon so I can get it quickly and update you once it's done. Thank you!

u can use a blade..... like the one that we use to clean glass

                      i use this blade.https://www.amazon.it/Stanley-0-28-5...s%2C107&sr=8-7

                      only the blade without handle.

The blue section shows as 0.2 ohms to ground and the yellow zone shows as 0L.

Am I in the right direction?

the blue part: try to lift the metal just a bit and remove green resistor. then measure blue omh again.

check omh on yellow and green.

remove purple and check green and blue again.

Yellow and green are both 2.8m ohms.

cut till the yellow marker and try to lift the metal while cutting.
try to take first metal layer, lift and then cut.
                                  measure blue again after.

It seems that the capacitor has 0.2 ohms no matter how much I scrape.

I am not sure what you mean by lifting the metal.

I checked on the first mosfets if voltage was going through and it does now.

                                    What do you think?

                                      what capacitor u mean ?

ofcourse remove psu, then measure omh on yellow zone.

edit: if board doesnt burn now, it could possible be that it works with intel gpu...

first mosfet u mean the one on the left ? mosfet should be ok and not them shorting.

check yellow value and report back.,

I was talking about the DC IN mosfets.

For the capacitor, I was referring to the one showing 0.2 ohms in yellow on the following picture

Here are the resistance readings to ground:
