LG 47LV5500-UA Vertical Colored Lines/Alignment Issue

Hi all, looking for some input on this one. I've been reading the forums for quite some time but this is my first time posting for help.

    LG 47LV5500-UA
    10 years old
    20,000+ hours on it.

Watching TV on it last week and right while I was watching the image suddenly started experiencing the symptoms in pics. Rainbow chromatic vertical lines and alignment issues. The issue is uniform across the entire panel. It does not come and go, the symptoms are stable.

Here is what I've tried so far:
    - Factory reset and cycle of picture options.
    - Pulled the back and cleaned and re-seated every single power supply, main board, and t-con board cable connection.
    - Pulled main board and checked grounds.
    - Pulled t-con board and replaced with two separate brand new t-con boards.(parts supplier sent me two for $15 so I tried both)

None of this has made a bit of difference. The symptoms remain exactly the same.

SO...it's not the t-con board, and my inkling is it is not a bad cable, as tapping on the t-con cables with the panel on does not make the symptoms change better or worse in any way.

None of the capacitors on the power supply look bad, but I haven't tested them, that's beyond my expertise.

Is it worth the $100 to switch out the main board and see if it works? Is it most likely the main board or is more likely that the panel is bad? Is it worth ordering new cables?

I can easily afford a new TV but I hate our throw-away society and I'd like to fix it if possible but at it's age it is *barely* worth $100(after shipping) IMO to put a new main board in.

Any input or advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Okay update: since posting this I went and pulled the front plastic frame housing off the panel to get to the ribbons. They all appear in good shape with no dimpling or heat damage apparent anywhere. Running my fingernail over each one with pressure does not induce any flickering, worsening, or improvement in the vertical lines.

100% bad cpu soldering, need at least reballing or cpu replacement.

So in other words, I should just replace the entire main board, which I actually can do for about $75 it looks like after searching some more parts suppliers.

No way I can get a CPU reball for less than that around here. $125 just to walk in the door and shake hands in terms of labor in my area.

You are very lucky if that board is working, because it's quite cheap for a 3D board (is it?), get that, no mess around.. no, wait, if you have acces to an old electric small oven, that you can use only for no food purposes, you can actually use as a reflow oven, first clean the board with water-soap-brush, then wash it with jet of boiling water, now shake it, put flux around CPU and blow hot air to let flux filter under, now put board in oven, 1 hour at min. temp with door slightly open, then 10 minutes 200C closed, let it cool down with door slightly open..

I too hate waste, but at 10 years old what's going out next, backlights? too bad they aren't like the old crt tvs that can last 30 years problem free on a regular basis, if this is one of the lg's that are prone to bad mainboards then I wouldn't trust a used one, not worth 100 bucks, might be time for a black Friday deal, I would check lots of reviews first tho, some are pure junk and not worth buying.

Try cleaning the LVDS cables or pulling and inserting the connectors several times from both sides (from main and t-con) and from t-con to the bars (bad contact).

                Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                by gpo23
                Hello,

                i order a t-con because i had bad colors on my SONY KDL-40V3000 :

With the new t-con the color are good but there are vertical lines on all the screen :

I've tried the old t-con and it returned to the initial issue (bad colors but no vertical lines)

Is there a way to fix the vertical lines on the new t-con ?

                Thank you for your help

Colored Vertical lines on Samsung UN55C6400RF TV
                by Maverick1234
                Hi,
I have a Samsung 55inch TV (UN55C6400RF). It has started showing colored vertical lines. I have opened the TV and the power board had one pin (out1-) which is discolored (Model # bn44-00358b). Can this be bad or is it the T-Con board (Model # D03464E0J09B6012066). Any recommendations on diagnosing the issue?

                Thanks,
                Sanjay

Thanks for offering your assistance with this. I'm an electronics enthusiast with moderate level of competence (have a decent lab with two power supplies, microscope, DSO, hot air, good iron, can competently work at a component level on SMDs, design and solder own PCBs etc). I really enjoying fixing things and learning new stuff so took up a free 58" LED TV and have been googling and watching Youtube videos to see if I can fix this! I am happy to go down to individual component replacement/strip replacement etc - it's all in the name of learning.

The issues are as follows: the...

Vertical Lines on Half of LCD Display
                by rfxcasey
I have an Siemens HMI with vertical lines on half of the screen. These lines aren't scrambled garbage but rather very regular in pattern and color. I have replaced the LCD with a new one and still the problem persists. I'm wondering if this isn't indicative of a bad video process chip or video memory? Any help would be appreciated. The cable appears to be OK but one pin on the header is unpopulated, though there isn't any loose wire to suggest one broke off or popped out of the connector. In the picture below where the connector is busted out of the side, I did that with my small screw driver...
