    Lg 55uk6950plb

Hi everyone, I have an LG 55UK6950PLB, it started off with the LG logo then top top left hand corner HDMI2 comes up then fades away then just sound. Onboard t-con board not separate.

I found a metal can capacitor at the top of the board in line with the LVDS sockets I measured 32 volts and it dropped off, I removed the ic below it and no picture so I assume it's needed lol, but the 32v still dropped off.

I then removed IC9400 a 24 pin package and all the voltages stayed up and the screen works it's watchable besides some feint lines on the right hand side that seem to flicker depending on what's displayed like a red background or light blue for example..

I have been trying to find out what the ic is or does from what I can see the ic is
3U=6AFHE or the F could be a warn out five I'm thinking it's a voltage regulator?

Any help would be appreciated thank you

Hi Lotus definitely looks like a “F” looking at it again
      Thanks Lotas

What I posted on the marking matches, but it doesn't match the pinout and the number of pins, I only found a voltage map for it.

Thanks Lotas I will keep hold of them and check caps tomorrow maybe a cap is short knocking the ic out thanks for your help so far, and hopefully someone will have a schematic,
The panel is likely to be faulty but it's interesting to see if I can make it better
The lines are horizontal and evenly spaced down the screen,

By your voltages it looks like a gamma chip.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

                Hi dskall
The tv is working without the IC9400 in place I was just wondering what the purpose of IC9400 is just that it has flickering feint lines down one side, it's kind of watchable
                Thanks Gary

I told you what chip I think it is. Maybe some alcohol and some side lighting of the chip will enable you to read number.

Hi Dskall, I'm well aware you suggested that it could be the Gamma ic, but would it cause horizontal lines on the right hand side of the screen, I always thought gamma ic's that have gone faulty cause a white screen….
My question was what does the ic in postion IC 9400 do what is it's job?

It seems to be labelled 3U=6AFHE (see photo)

                    Kind regards

Unless you can find a datasheet for the chip unlikely you are going to get much more help.

I have this tv on the bench & blocked ckv lines which got it to work however after 5 minutes the screen corrupted & the set switch off.
This was followed by the psu blinking 8 times.

                                Hi all,

I have a SMEG cooktop with a EGO 72.08041.002 power board. The two left hand side cooktops started to slowly fail, sometimes stopping with an EA error (Power board failure according to the manual) after a couple minutes boiling some water and eventually they completely failed and now get an EA error on both of them at all times. Visual inspection of the board went over ok, I checked the IGBT's and rectifiers and they seem fine, what should I look at next as this is the first time I'm fixing an induction cooker, I'm suspecting capacitors in this case, Which ones should I look...

Hi folks, newbie here. My intention on a working monitor was to test for voltages on the various pins. Somewhere near the ribbon to the monitor, there we 2 caps. One was reading around 5V and the other was maybe about 12 or 14V . Cant really recall. Then it happened. The multimeter kissed the 5v cap and the other cap. Spark appeared. NOW... the part where the spark happened ( Caps near the Last ribbon cable ) is now totally white. 1/6 part of the screen is white. From my little understanding , i came to learn that there are transistors inside the TFT panel. Could that be a issue then? I have removed...

This TV has been on the wall in our reception area for around 10 years and the other day the backlight failed. You could see a feint picture so we knew the screen was OK. I took the TV apart to get to the failed backlight and inject voltage in to each half of the LED strips to identify which ones had failed and 4 needed replacing. I ordered a set off of Amazon and they arrived the next day.

On fitting the new LED strips I plugged in the TV was blinded by the light!!

It was only when I partially put it all back together (including the screen) that...

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
