We're not in fugging junior high school. The bickering will stop; one way or another. This forum has an 'ignore member' function; those whom can not get along, I suggest use it!

    Hello,

Was 1 orange/amber. , 1 green , but since last post finally got it to update. I cannnot thank everyone enough! The fix was to make sure the file on the usb drive was correctly unzipped.

    These are the instructions.

    File information:
    Download file: sony_tvupdate_2014_3004_aaa_auth.zip
    Folder on USB: sony_dtv0FA40A06A0A6_00003301
    File in folder: 00003301_041e0000.bin

Note: For Main Board Replacements, must do below:
    1.Install the software
a.Insert the USB device with the latest software.
    b.Connect TV to AC power.
    c.Wait at least 20 seconds.
d.Press POWER on the TV to turn ON the TV. ( even though the green and amber lights were flashing). I left the TV alone , ate dinner , and when i came back i had a “update complete message”.
e.Wait until the Software update is completed

The TV is Alive! Thank you again everyone.

I installed the Tcon board , along with new cable. I get orange and green flashing lights. I can not get the main board to update . If i disconnect the Tcon board from the main board, power on the tv, power off the Tv, then plug in the Tcon, i get a clear and perfect picture and sound( hooked up computer as test).

When i disconnected the power from the wall , and power the TV back on, goes back to the orange and green flash.

What are my next steps, i feel like i am getting closer..

Yes , seems like i get a couple of different things every time i plug in. Now i getting the 5 blinking lights , unless i “hot” plug in the Tcon. If i unplug the Tv and unplug the TCON , i will get a blue / white light. If i then pug in the TCON while the TV IS POWERED ON, i get the flashing chess , red blue and white( test pattern). I decided to plug in my laptop to hdmi 1 , and i can hear sound , and me choosing inputs, but only the “test” pattern is displayed.

Forgot to mention, with the TCON disconnect from the main board, i get a green light. The TCON connected to the main board and disconnected to from the panel, 5 red blinks.

I tried the firmware, but does not load. Only blue flashing light on the led. I need to see about getting a tcon board. I only get the “chess board display when : I power off , disconnect the Tcon from the main board, and “hot plug it in”. If i power on the display with Tcon connected , only 5 red blinking lights, no chess/ checkered board display.

HP EliteBook 840 G6 – no power after lightning strike
    by Bardou Kari
    Hi,
I’m trying to fix an HP EliteBook 840 G6 that stopped working after a lightning storm.

    – Charger is OK and 19V is present at the motherboard.
    – No charging LED, no fan, no reaction.
    – I don’t see any 3.3V or 5V near the coils.
    – Battery is unplugged.
    – I’m new to board repair but can use a multimeter.

I added a clear photo of the board.
Any idea where to start or what to check next?
Thanks a lot for your help!...

Panasonic TH-50PX80 killed by lightning strike, help me save her!
    by SluggerB
Yes it's a 17 year old Panasonic plasma!

I was watching TV when there was a huge lighting strike nearby my house that shook the house. When that happened, the picture on the TV froze and the TV wouldn't turn off except by pulling the power cable. Now if you plug in the TV, it seems to turn on (it makes the turn on "clikcs" it always does, the red power light comes on but there is no picture, although I can see the back light around the edges. And the TV doesn't respond to the power button on the remote to turn off, and doesn't respond to the manual power button on the front...

Samsung UN60EH6000 wont come on after lightning strike.
    by karthur
We had a lightning strike a few days ago really close to my house. My Samsung UN60EH6000 was on when it hit. Afterwards, the TV would not come back on.

I had repaired this TV a few years back by replacing the T-Con board. (The post I had on this is repair is here.)

When I turn on the TV, I don't get any start-up melody. The screen just dimly flickers around the edges.

Here is what I have checked.
On the power supply board, 14pin connector:
    1 :12.7 Vdc
    3 :12.7
    5 :12.7
    7 :12.7
    9 :0
    11 :5.
    13 :5....

Lightning Strike: 55" TV dead: is display panel OK?
    by MrCreosote
    THE LIGHTNING:
This was a very close strike, blew a 15 amp breaker for all ceiling lights in home AND could smell ozone for a few minutes after strike.

Very close and probably a very strong EMP.

    THE TV:
No standby LED. Some voltage from PSB (not totally dead).

But found a kit of ALL 4 circuit boards for $55.

At first thought, this will fix my TV.

But then lightning has the ability to totally fry semiconductors. Which would include any or all of the PCBs. However, the display is one big semiconductor and given...

advices for repairing Sony Bravia 32EX600 after lightning strike
    by pbig
    hi everyone,
my parents in law have seen their Bravia Sony LED 32EX600 TV set stop after a lightning strike. After being plugged to mains, it shows nothing no power LED on bottom left shines.
On the power PCB (GE3b, attached pic), I chacked the fuses and the only roasted one is R6536 : 0.47 ohms, 1/2W. After replacing it, I made some voltage measurement with ref to the chassis :
    - the 450V/150uF capacitor voltage when plugged is normal at 394V
    - from connector CN6150 (15 poles)
STBY normal 3.3V -> I shunted it to 3 (POWER ON) and 11 (BL ON) and unplugged...
