Thanks. I picked this one up today off the curb. Plugged it up and immediately thought Tcon. Had same symptoms as yours. ( blank screen ). Had good tcon leftover from 55S405. Tv works.

Maybe buggy firmware, or a gone bad firmware update?

    started a topic TCL 55P607 / 55P605 tcon dump

    TCL 55P607 / 55P605 tcon dump

Picked up this tv in non-working condition. On plug, the backlight would come on, and the led would flash about 16 times before cycling. So my initial guess was a fault with the mainboard. However, after holding down the reset button and plugging in power, it actually booted and stayed on. Still no display, but backlights good, and could hear roku sounds when pressing physical/remote buttons. No more cycling.

Next, detached one panel ribbon at a time, and got the respective white half, and banding on the other. Tcon seemed like common / likely culprit and are available cheap. Confirmed it revived the tv.

Saw replacement flash chips being sold as well, so I did some testing. Dumped the bad flash repeatedly and got consistent results. Dumped the good flash, flashed it on the bad one, and verified a bunch of times. Chip seems to be fine?

Retested the bad tcon and it's back to working. Closed the tv back up with the now working original tcon board, and will save the replacement for a rainy day.

So I'm curious what happened here? It seems like something was corrupt both on the mainboard (that was fixed with a reset) and tcon. Perhaps I'll be looking at a replacement mainboard in the near future?

Anyway, the problem tcon board is ST5461D04-1-C-7. Looks like it's used on a few different models as well. Flash chip is at IC6: GigaDevice 25Q41BT 4Mbit SOP8. AsProgrammer detected it as GD25Q40

Attaching the dump from the working tcon. Hope it helps someone in the future.

Sony A8H to A80J mainboard upgrade possible?
    by TerraPhantm
I have a Sony 65A8H. Always bothered me that it doesn't have HDMI 2.1. I noticed the A80J board appears quite similar. And comparing some wiring diagrams in the service manuals (albeit A9G vs A90J since I couldn't find the A8/80 manuals), things appeared quite similar. And my understanding is the panels between the two TVs are more or less the same.

So I decided I'd experiment a little bit.

I bought an A80J board. Left the speaker connection unplugged because it doesn't fit. Changed the power connector to fit the new board. Plugged in everything else.

    ThinkPad X1 Nano (20UN) bricked
    by nordlicht
    Hi guys,

while trying to mod my ThinkPad X1 Nano (model 20UN) I got too impatient to hold the wires pressed to the SPI Flash contacts, so I soldered wires to it, but wasn't paying attention when connecting my programmer and, stupidly, swapped VCC and GND. Thus I fried the main SPI Flash, and I only have an incomplete/corrupt dump (u49_incomplete.bin). The secondary SPI flash on the board (W25Q256JVEIQ) seems to hold two redundant copies of the EC firmware (at 0x1000 and 0xc0000) as well as a redundant BIOS copy. I am fairly confident that the secondary Flash dump is correct (dumped...

    Canon DR-1210C flash dump request
    by bamdad61
Dear folks, recently got a canon dr-1210c and it worked perfectly just for one day. Right now it shows all possible errors on the screen and do nothing. I tear down the device and found a 32 pin plcc flash chip. I thought reprogramming firmware might be helpful. The firmware update file from canon support include a dll file which doesn't help. So if anyone has the dump it would such a great favor to share.
