• TCL 55P607 / 55P605 tcon dump

Picked up this tv in non-working condition. On plug, the backlight would come on, and the led would flash about 16 times before cycling. So my initial guess was a fault with the mainboard. However, after holding down the reset button and plugging in power, it actually booted and stayed on. Still no display, but backlights good, and could hear roku sounds when pressing physical/remote buttons. No more cycling.

Next, detached one panel ribbon at a time, and got the respective white half, and banding on the other. Tcon seemed like common / likely culprit and are available cheap. Confirmed...

    Updating on this.

The oven treatment only worked for a few months, and I ended up giving this part a shot. Received GXFCB0QK012030X, which has two additional connectors compared to the original 12040x. Working well....

Upon further research, it seems like the tcon is likely fine, and the tape fix may be the only economical solution.

  • NS-43DR620NA18 picture jumps vertically

    43" 4k roku insignia

Was told this tv had a flickering issue, so I assumed backlight--power board and pulled the back off to examine before firing it up.

Instead, I see that it's not holding the picture vertically. Backlight is completely fine.

Here's a video (sorry about the rotation): https://youtu.be/7YY8NafwNGI

Could this be a tcon? I've reseated the ribbons / applied pressure to the tabs.

tcon appears to be ts-5543t10c03 https://www.shopjimmy.com/vizio-55-43t10-c03-55t32-c0f-ctrl-bd-t-con-board-for-d43-e2-lwz2vnbt/...

  • Re: Vizio M43-C1 No Backlights

Just realized the coax soldered itself shut in the oven.

Got it opened back up, but not without completely melting and making a mess of the plastic insulation. Seems to be working now though..

Might not be a bad idea to stick a paper clip or similar in the coax port before putting it in the oven. It'd be a lot easier to desolder that than to try and clean out the port otherwise. Maybe it'd have been possible to flow out working from the inside, but I didn't feel like taking the tv apart again....

While looking for a replacement board, I threw the old one in the oven.

Preheated to 425'f, and then tossed it in. Cut the heat after 6 minutes, and cracked the door after 10. Waited half an hour (way too little time) and gave it a go. Guess the tv works for now...

Has a main board part interchange ever been determined? Just picked up an m50-c1 that needs a new board. Bad board is gxfcb0qk012040x / 715g7288-m02-000-005t.

    Found https://www.tvpartstoday.com/756TXFCB0QK0120-Vizio-Main-Board-756TXFCB0QK012-p/756txfcb0qk0120.htm which lists "756TXFCB0QK0120 Vizio Main Board, 756TXFCB0QK012, 715G7288-M02-000-005T, GXFCB0QK012040X, GXFCB0QK012030X, GXFCB0QK012020X, CBPFETEKX6C, M50-C1"

I do see that the d50u-d1's gxfcb0qk0220030x is much cheaper and more readily available....

Haven't received this cpu yet, but would anyone happen to know the specs for the circled smd capacitors / have a digikey link? Hoping that's all that's wrong with the chip.

    Thank you...

Hah. Is your TV still working? Picked up the same model today with exactly the same results as yours. Saw a burn mark on the top strip.

Swapped it with the bottom, and sure enough, all the LEDs are evenly lit. Individual LED resistance seems to be all over the place though.

Update: Welp, either the original owner damaged the ribbon cable or I did. Screen was working except for one vertical line (can still be seen in perfect black) on the left side. I fidgeted with the ribbon while it...

This is the chip that's most likely at fault: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-PN64D7000-Flash-IC1302-for-main-board-/322282202849

Here's a listing for a repair service (same seller): http://www.ebay.com/itm/REPAIR-Samsung-BN94-04689C-Main-Board-for-PN64D7000FFXZA-/322313311069

I definitely don't consider myself a pro at soldering at all, but this is not something to attempt without prior experience. That said, there's 48 leads to the chip, but not all of them are used, should you decide...

Ack, I forgot to update this thread. I did end up buying the nand chip on ebay and it worked great. Unfortunately, not even a week later, the TV got knocked over while I was away. A travesty

    Re: DELL 2405fpw

Sorry, I passed the edit period again. New main cap measures 160v when off, and 214v when on. I've seen reports of higher voltages in the 300 range. Is there a problem here?

When off, the power board emits a slight squeal if the logic board is attached. Goes away when turned on. Could be more caps that require replacing, but at this point, I'd like to solve the yellow picture before other repairs.

Tcon board only buzzes when the lcd ribbon is attached.

edit: Damn. Not sure what happened. Been using the monitor all day with...

    Re: DELL 2405fpw

Got the order from digikey today. Replaced the failed big cap. Soldered on the new mosfet and got 5V back, so the zener diode and fuse went in as well.

Unfortunately, the yellow screen still persists. It doesn't seem to be a backlight issue (I'm seeing 18.7V to the inverter, and a nice bright bluish light from the ccfl). The tcon board is making a bit of a buzzing noise. Could that cause this? The left/right edges show a particularly darker yellowing, although the entire display is as if I had nightmode/f.lux on.

    edit: forgot to mention...

    Re: DELL 2405fpw

Here are some poor pictures showing the yellowing. There's a sliver of a dell 2005fpw to the right, which shows the proper color.

Despite the yellow tint, it's definitely not dimly lit. Am seeing stable 18.7V going to the backlight inverter.....

    Re: DELL 2405fpw

I've been using the monitor, supplying 5V externally. However, it has a severe yellow tint all around, especially so on the left/right edges. Settings have been reset to no avail. Occurs on both DVI and DSUB. Something with the backlight/inverter?

    Re: DELL 2405fpw

    I've also come across a dead 2405fpw.

F701, Q1, and D19 need replacement. As well, the main cap is oozing, squeals when off, and isn't able to provide a stable voltage (varies between 61v-64v).

D19 exploded and took out the solder pads. Looks like the unused R17 is a suitable spot to solder a replacement diode.

Before I realized what the situation was, I jumped the blown fuse with an ammeter for less than a second and saw 14A. This caused the buck inductor to smoke up and melt slightly. So that's probably worth replacing as...

Hey, did you ever replace your chip? I just picked up a pn59d7000 with the same issue, although I don't even get 1:15 out of it. It looks like there's a seller on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SamSung-PN59D6500DFXZA-BN94-04709A-Main-board-repair-IC1302-/322114274014

I sent him a message asking if he could flash a different firmware. He did have a past listing for our d7000 series tvs (pn64d7000 specifically: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-PN64D7000-Flash-IC1302-for-main-board-/322049839255 ).

And decided to attack my chip with some canned air. Thing turns on and stays on as long as I keep the chip frozen. Incredible.

Found a similar thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24554 where the culprit was the main board. Is there a conclusive test for this?

The main board for this model is BN41-01605A / BN41-01605 and is unavailable anywhere currently.

If the fault is with the firmware, is there a way to reprogram it via SPI or similar? If not the firmware but the board is at fault, I'm tempted to throw it in the oven.

On plugging it in, it turns on, shows the Samsung Smart TV splash screen, then shows the input mode (HDMI1/DVI) in the upper left. Then...
