Then strip out the damaged screen of the TV (getting experience first in carefully taking it apart and use one or more of the ccfl tubes in your own TV). Some can be soldered into the ends of the ccfl tubes but you can normally tell which has failed as has blackened ends on the tube and when ignited by inverter will not necessarily be fully lit.
Personally I wouldn't bother with a led conversion as too much mucking around and long term reliability issues (as leds fail far quicker than ccfl tubes).
Sure, THAT'S probably why so many people are doing it, it's only a lot of "mucking about" if you don't know what you're doing, otherwise it's pretty simple.

converting ccfl to led i have always wondered a couple of things.
white reflector sheet is under ccfl so could cut circles for the leds to poke through?
are the diffuser sheets the same ccfl vs leds so would picture quality be ok?

VR69, can just put the strips on top, need to be careful not to break the standoffs if you don't have any new ones, the heat from the ccfl tubes make them pretty brittle after so many years, good example there, i think he had some kind of antenna issue at the end there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Hh0iAsWieg

Fair enough. I haven't looked into it but consider LED's long term are too unreliable over time compared to ccfl tubes. I have a large selection of ccfl tubes from damaged screens so wouldn't consider it as a repair. Particularly as the price of non smart TV's is dropping locally and the demand is dropping for them as well

Truth is it's all old heavy junk, plasma, ccfl and crt.

                Samsung QE82Q70RAT no backlight
                by sansanpartida
                Hi everyone!

Hope you're all having a great day, and thank you very much for stopping by and taking the time to read this post to help me with my parents' Samsung TV.

                My issue: No backlight.

                Model: QE82Q70RAT
                Type No: QE82Q70RAT

The TV was already serviced by Samsung once under warranty for the exact same issue, but six months after the fix, the backlight went out again. Now, Samsung is asking for nearly the same price as a brand new TV to fix this with the same 6-month guarantee.

So hopefully, I can fix this cheaper.

Samsung QN75Q6FNA backlight no display, red LED blink 2x, fault in panel
                by howardc64
                • Prior owner tried a replacement main board. No difference.
                • Samsung 2x red blinking standby LED = panel fault
                • Jumpered FB_TRDY_1 (pin 1 CN1300 left. main tcon->left side buffer boards) and FB_TRDY_3 (pin 95 CN1301 right. main tcon->right side buffer boards) This allows testing individual T-Con (on main board) connection to panel on this Samsung. Found fault on left side (viewing from rear of TV)
                • Each side has 2 buffer boards, disconnected left side flex between 2 buffer boards. Fault is on the left most board.
                • Tape masking eventually isolated to CN1300 pin 15 (CKV4_GOA) Display

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
                by Ierwin
                Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...
