Oh mate.. think of anything possible doing with that file and i have done that. 1st file. 2nd file. even 2nd file extracted, renamed, i have tried more than 100 times with 10 different usb sticks in different ways.. pfff. non helped. .pkg is the only way for it to work same like a windows bootle usb/disk can start the setup. putting extraced windows or iso or .zip will never boot for setup..

.zip work only when the tv is working and you want to update its firmware then you access it with the tv menu and run it..

It will never start the update from a usb port on its own.

Ok, did you do this, when you see that second zip file, that is the one you want to put on your thumb drive, try that it should work.

If you mean the one in video then that is not my tv. My set is kd-65xg9505,. and all i can see is .zip on sony site for this model.. So yes i am downloading the right firmware but that is not .pkg.

Are you sure you are getting the proper software? from what I see it was taken off 01/30/2022

Wel. As you can see in the video. His downloaded file is a .PKG file. not a zip file after extraction. This is the issue. When i extract the file for my tv. i dont get a .pkg but again a .zip with multiple files in there.

I have also contacted nick and sad enough no clear anwser from them only suggested download from sony site which i end up again with .zip firmware.

Good Day.

I just replaced tcon on my sony kdl 65xg9505 and getting green amber leds blinking. all voltages are ok according to working sequence.

i downloaded firmware from sony and there is no .pkg fike.. after extracting it gives another file which contains multiple files like inf, payload.bin and 3, 4 other files. i just did that usb but did not worked. anyone knows anything how to do it..?

renaming, in original state nothing helps. any idea's which may help is welcome..

The backlight still comes on with either new or old tcon board. It turns on and shows full picture with the old tcon installed, sound and menus work. It shows my android box backgrounds and looks great with no lines or dead pixels... but shuts off after 10 seconds with tcon error.

That's what burns my ass... that it can work, it just chooses not to.

ok, does it come back on by itself after it shuts of, like on 10 seconds off for whatever time then back on for 10 seconds or it just shuts off and stays off?

with original T-CON. if you unplug BL_ERR wire from the socket.. what will happen?

did you inter diagnose mode from STB and cleared error count??

also i suggust you to messure direct on LED+ and LED- all channel at start up see if the reading are same--

for me this reading after PS_ON send to PCB BL_ERR are high.. and i think you had never noticed BL come on since u worked on it... i would never spend any parts for it unless you are sure 100% LED BL & its circuit are fine. this same belong to nomoresonys TV.

I'm getting .05V in standby, 1.08V while powered on. +12V and +3.3V on the power board are also normal.

for me this reading after PS_ON send to PCB BL_ERR are high.. and i think you had never noticed BL come on since u worked on it... i would never spend any parts for it unless you are sure 100% LED BL & its circuit are fine. this same belong to nomoresonys TV.

from all i read, some did fix this issue with a replacement mainboard, I think I overcooked mine and the replacement for my model was 150 or so, seems like more than the tv is worth, I'm curious if one would fix it BUT not quite that curious. :

Would a new main board possibly solve this issue? I don't mind throwing a bit of money at it if there's a good chance it would work. Seems awfully nice to throw away when it technically should work.

Indeed, lots of similar problems I've had and seen here and elsewhere, can't solve it for some reason, can you report the voltage of the BL_ERR pin on the powerboard connector, black neg. probe on chassis ground, red pos. probe on the pin, check in standby[tv plugged in but off] then power on and check it while it's on for those 5-10 seconds, report voltages.

ok, thanks Diah, didn't know if it was suppose to be high or low power, unpower, like some voltages high is right some low is right, hard to comprehend at times.

yes it was high all the time 2.3, been trying to find out what that bl-err voltage should be on a working tv but no luck, that is, what it should be at standby and when powered up.
