Vizio M60-C3 multiple symptoms leading to death

Initially, I had an issue last winter where, when the room was cold, the TV came on but continuosly scrolled through the inputs. Slapping the back of the lower left where the KB board and light are would solve things until the room warmed up and things worked fine.

Then recently it started coming "on" but no picture, just backlight. Turning it off and on again fixed things. Then it got worse, where I'd have to cycle power several times to get picture. Then I got the dimming light and sometimes flashing after dimming. Again, cycle power a few times and it would eventually work fine.

Now it is dead. I took off the back and started measuring. The only low voltage I get is about 3.3v and 2.something on a few pins leaving the PS. But those voltages make it through the MB to the KB board, so I'm guessing that's the stand-by voltage and my measurements may be normal for a unit that is off. Not sure where to go from here. I'd like to hope it's the PS because it's probably cheaper than a MB or even fixable. I saw one YouTube video where the guy just replaced the 4 identical caps at upper-right on PS and fixed it. Based on all those progressing symptoms, any thoughts?

I would try heating your main chip and see if tv comes on.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

There are 2 common problems. #1 is bad caps on the power supply. Check out the power supply. If no bad caps then most likely problem #2 is the mainboard. In this case, you probably need to reflow, reball, or replace the processor chips under the heatsink.

I made a super quick and easy-to-follow video tutorial on how to identify the bad board for these model tvs without needing equipment, but instead just based on symptoms. This should help tons since you can see what I talk about visually. Hopefully, it doesn't break bad caps terms.

Thanks guys. Sure enough, on closer inspection those four caps were bulged. Just ordered a 20 pack from Amazon for $5.99 and they'll be in my mailbox day after tomorrow. Sweet!

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

          Vizio M65-C1
          by mrtek
          Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
          by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....

Now months later set powers up,backlights light ok,no picture. 12volts missing from fuse on tcon. 12VA on power
supply is 19 volts. Changed D9100 again, same, 12 volts measures 19. Am I looking at a power supply or mainboard
issue. Set will power up with remote but not power off....
