Picked up as a non-working set from a friend who could not remember symptoms of failure.

Fired up this set and worked normally (low audio volume) for an hour. Turned off and let sit overnight plugged in. Next attempt not so successful. No reaction from push button or remote.
I have 5.3 and 12.8 volts where labeled. Constant 3.14 volts on Remote_ON/OFF in standby and when on/off button is depressed on TV and remote.
Does main board remove 3 volts to signal smps to fire up?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I would heat up main and power board and see if it then powers on.

LE LV LW LS series have main board bga failures. Search eBay for repair services.

My initial thoughts were that the main board was at fault. BGA failure makes sense. Thanks for your support!!

BGA issue had it on these boards.

There is a known issue with eeprom U14 on this board that causes this very symptom. Ordered the chip with updated LG firmware.

Heating up processor is good way to confirm bad bga connections.

I have a Milwaukee heat gun...what temp do you recommend I heat it to?

Does not really tell me anything about temperature..since I don't have a rework station, I am still guessing..400F?

You are not trying to reflow it, just put some heat into it, then turn the TV on. You can do it with a hair dryer.

You can try freezing the eeprom with an upside down can of duster before plugging in.
