TCL 49S405 burnt resistor R413 and will not power on

Appreciate all of the effort that goes into what I have seen so far on these forums. Pretty amazing work!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a friend's TCL 49S405, a 49" Roku TV from 2017. Friend heard a pop and then the TV would no longer power on. I opened it up expecting to find something amiss on the power board, and I did.

Resistor R413 was burnt. It appeared to be the only damaged component from a visual standpoint. Google revealed this to be a very common burnt resistor for this board in the S405 series.

    https://old.reddit.com/r/techsupport..._tcl_tv_power/

I am having a hard time determining the value of my particular resistor based on the color code. There appear to be some variations of the R413 value from board to board (see kit photo with slightly different colors). Is it a 4-band with orange, orange, silver, gold, and a meaningless black ring? A 5-band with black, yellow, grey, orange, orange?

The possibilities seem to be 0.33 ohms with 5% tolerance, or 33.8 ohms with 0.5% tolerance. Most posts including the Reddit thread linked above seem to land upon the latter, but 33.8 ohms with 0.5% tolerance seems like a bizarre choice for a commodity TV. Perhaps the kit photo of R413's relative location on the board might shed light on what its resistance value should be.

The miniature square fuse by the power input still had continuity and other spot-checked components on the board returned their proper values. Is it possible that this is the only damaged component?

The black band indicates it's non inductive, it's orange, orange, silver, gold -
    0.33Ω 5%

Thank you so much, very good to know that info.

I will start by purchasing a set of 0.33Ω 1W 1% metal film resistors from Le 'Bay.

I would also check your diodes and FETs for shorts and check if the fuse is blown.

being used as a fusible resistor... i'd check some fets and diodes... there is a short somewhere.

If R413 is open, it is likely QW2 is shorted, When this happens, U402 ic may also be damaged along with the gate drive components and the CS resistor R402

I tried replacing resistor R413 all by itself and... no dice. Figured it couldn't hurt to try.

R402 and R421 look to be in rough shape, now that you mention it.

To save time, I am going to purchase a new power board while I continue looking into this one.

I replaced the power board and everything seems to be working normally now.

Hey, were you ever able to replace the resistor and get the board to work?

                    LED uplighter dimmer burnt resistor
                    by CG2
I've got a 240v LED uplighter which isn't working. Pulling it apart shows a clearly burnt resistor on the circuit board, and I'm hoping some of you will have suggestions on what to replace it with. First, here are some photos. Power comes in, through the fuse and choke, then through the big blue variable resistor labelled B500K (ignore the similar blue component at the bottom - it's a simple switch for an attached reading lamp). It then passes through the burnt resistor (or at least did once), through diac DB1 and the unburned 30 ohm resistor to the gate of the triac. Now I assume there's a simple...

                    by trickartt
                    Hello Badcaps!

I am trying to troubleshoot my Allen & Heath Xone:02 DJ mixer. I have had this for somewhere close to 20 years and have played music through it in one form or another pretty much every single day since I've had it, though these days it's usually from a wireless streaming receptacle (Apple Airport) more than the turntables that are also connected to it.

This week my music stopped working, and after a bit of a wild goose chase, I realised my mixer was dead. I checked the 500mA fuse in the device beside the power supply and found it was blown, so I replaced...

                    Hi

I have an Ersa rds 80 soldering station which has developed a fault and just showing err on display
I have found a burnt resistor on pcb can anyone help me identify this resistor if you have a circuit diagram or similar unit
The printed circuit board markings are rd80 ver 2.0 and the resistor in question is R6

                    Many thanks...

                    Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

                    1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
                    2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
                    3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor

Need help to replace burned resistor in 350w atx psu
                    by mikey5791
                    Hi to all forum members,

Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...
