I'm sorry, some moments i have maybe a loss of concentration, reading again the first post, indeed the freeze technique is not the thing to do. Let's start to say that i don't trust the fate fault, this behaviours happens very often and are the manufacturers that intentionally bricks your device!
In this optic you can follow two main paths, one to complaint agaist Hitachi that you are sure the fault is by guilt of the upgrade software, until you are to the point of scream in their face, this is the best approach because morally right. The other is to study how the tv is bricked and this only by the serial log and trying to enter in the console..

I nearly had frost bite when fitting the frozen board but it didn't make any difference.
There is 5V on the main on the LED connector so it must be an option to derive it from either 3.3V or 12V.
I am setting up a terminal to read the Tx output on the mini SCART today when I figure out which pin it is in the normal SCART socket on the end of the adapter lead.

Not so easy to do I don't have a freezer spray. Would it work putting the board in the freezer & dropping it to zero C?

I am still hoping to fix the original board. I think the PSU is working & saw a cheap board for £13 that will verify the PSU state & give me a whole TV board that can drive an older TV via SCART or HDMI that can't tune the latest incarnation of digital channels with the addition of a PC supply. The final solution might be a £40 board if the problem is hardware but I want to investigate and learn more.

I tried to check out the power supplies and found there was no 5V STBY on the main board but following it back to the PSU board there are no components fitted. Should there be 5V on the main board perhaps derived from another rail or is it an option that isn't required on this model TV?

Software needs to be changed if you use the board from toshiba.

Are you saying the hardware could be different or it is software that can be changed? I bought mum a 65" Toshiba replacement because TV is her life at 96 years old so have a remote type CT8533.

I can't see any boards like mine only ones that appear to have the same components with a different reference.

Yes maybe but it failed over 9 months ago and I was so disgusted with it I put it out of sight to stop me from smashing it up.

I found a manual that appears to cover a lot of boards but it jumps from 95 to 130 with no mention of my 100 board that seems to be an oddball.

It must be a faulty mainboard not a faulty PSU.

Probably a mainboard (firmware) related issue that can't be solved using the usb so you might need further help from a technician. You might need to reprogram or replace the emmc, but you never know, its not that easy diagnosing through a forum. So I don't know about faint hissing but I think its constantly trying to start up the mainboard.Your best bet is to get it fixing under warranty but I guess your warranty is voided becouse you already opened the back, but you can give hitachi a call and ask them.
Your tv model maybe 55HK6T64U or 55HGW69; so I checked for a mainboard replacement but I might need more info to get you the correct replacement, otherwise get a board and then update the firmware sent from hitachi.

I held the OK button & the button on the back of the TV for 2.5 minutes but no change. I just found a 2 GB SD card I can use but won't bother given your last post. Pressing the button lots of time made no difference either.
What about the faint hissing and ticking coming from the PSU does that point to any thing? In this LED flashing mode should the PSU be fully on?

My bad, I thought Hitachi sent you the files and not the usb stick. Try holding ok for a bit longer or keep pressing ok button repeatedly.

If it dosen't take firmware then it might be a hardware problem or a problem that can't be solved just with a usb stick.

Request: Firmware for Hitachi 42HXT12U (Vestel 17MB95M, VES420UNDL Panel)
    by Bazilwrc164
    Hi all,

I’m looking for a USB firmware file or EEPROM dump for a Hitachi 42HXT12U TV.

The mainboard is a Vestel 17MB95M, and the screen panel is VES420UNDL.

I recently replaced the mainboard with another 17MB95M, but it’s programmed for an LC420DUJ panel, and I’m getting no picture. I’d like to flash the correct firmware via USB or update the EEPROM if needed.

    If anyone can provide:
    • A working USB firmware file (like upgrade_loader.pkg or mb95_m.bin)
    • Or a compatible EEPROM dump
    ...

Hitachi 43HAE4251 - Vestel 17MB171 - Displays logo and reboots
    by EnricoS92
    Hello,

I have a problem with this tv Hitachi with vestel 17MB171 board.

I turned off a couple days ago and the next morning when I turned on it had the issue, i tried to left the power unplugged for several hours but nothing.

The tv turns on shows the logo picture and after a few seconds reboots, and start over again.

I was able to connect via uart to the tv and grab the log I attached, it has logged 3 reboots.

I believe it is a corrupted software, but I could not find any online, does anyone has it, or where to download....

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
    by double_DD
    Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

Vestel tv, how to flip the image?
    by France_53
Hello everyone from Italy, I'm here to ask for help on a Vestel TV, I've had a Vestel TV branded "XD" with a broken screen for years, but now I've found a Telefunken (still Vestel but older) and I've mounted the panel on the "XD" TV, it works, but the screen is upside down, given that Vestel does not allow you to rotate the image from the service menu, does anyone know how to solve the problem? the original panel is marked ves315WNDS-2D-N12 while the main board 17mb110, the panel I mounted instead in the tv (from the telefunken) is a ves315WNDA-02. ... It is not worth repairing...
