Re: Which CPU to buy - I5 or I7
I think the I5 would be faster since it has a higher clock speed. You would probably not see a difference in the two extra cores....

Re: Asus Gl553VW turn on no windows boot
Just a thought, I had a Asus with similar problem, but the cause was it was overheating. The motherboard and the bottom case formed the duct for the cpu fan. There was a rubber seal on the board that made the connection between the motherboard and the bottom case, and if the seal was not exactly in the right spot, it would leak enough that the cpu would overheat and shut down. There was markings on the board showing where the seal was supposed to go. Have you ran a program that shows cpu temperature constantly? The cpu on...

Re: Nintendo Wii power supply
I agree with stj as far as definitions go. What I want to see is the solder flow into the hole and build a pyramid around the pin. I use solder with flux inside so I don"t add flux. If I don't see it flow evenly around the pin, then I suck the solder away and add new. If it does not flow around the pin then either its not hot enough or there are contaminates on the pin. With practice you will see what I mean....

Re: Nintendo Wii power supply
I use a solder sucker to remove the old solder and use rosin core solder and let it flow around the pin. Heavy items like transformers break away from the solder and cause intermittent connections. Just re-flow all the pins cause you cannot always see a bad connection....

Re: Nintendo Wii power supply
While you have it open, re-solder the transformer and the coil. I have fixed two wii power supplies that have shown no other problems this way. The solder did not even look bad on one, but the re-solder fixed it....

Re: Dell E7240 Laptop
Just to give an update, it was a bios problem. Received the CH341A programmer with test clip and it worked perfect. Did not have to un-solder, just put the clip on and was able to erase and program both bios chips....

Re: Dell E7240 Laptop
I don't have an oscilloscope, but I think there is data or the diagnostic card would not have incremented up to code 6A. The problem is it stops before it can finish the bios to move on to booting the system....

Dell E7240 Laptop
Picked this up on Ebay, and it is in very good condition. When powered on, the power light lights and stays on, fan turns on after awhile, but nothing on screen and no other lights flash or turn on. When pressing the power button again it turns off. Battery charge light turns on and battery charges just fine. Battery holds charge. I plugged in a diagnostic card in the msata slot and post codes increment to 6A and stop there. Cannot find any information on post codes for this model. Dell was no help, all they wanted was for me to send it in for service. I can find replacement motherboards on ebay,...

Re: Help me understand something I thought I understood about electricity
Most things should work as long as they won"t mind the voltage changing between 10 to 13.8 volts. If you hook it directly to the battery or other direct connection it would be better to have a 1 amp or 2 amp fuse. If you hook it thru the cigarette lighter jack, it will already be fused, but it could be fused much higher than 2 amps.

Re: Use a system image backup on another computer?
Its the chipset drivers that are usually the issue. If you are going from an intel environment to an amd then it is sure to fail. They are located under system devices in device manager. You can try to uninstall them in the old system and then try to boot in the new system. The problem is it is hard to uninstall them because the system stops working. If you can get rid of the old drivers then windows will start loading new drivers. You can also try changing them to pci standard generic windows drivers and then try...

Re: Hp Touchsmart 300
Does the power light flash when you turn it on. Count the number of flashes. Are you using the original power adapter? You cannot just substitute a notebook adapter....

Re: Sony KDL-32L5000 Will Not Turn On
I don't know if this will help or not but I worked on the same model tv. It would not do anything but I had good voltages. Replacing the main board fixed the original problem. It worked for a little while, then would not turn on. If you unplugged the power and left it unplugged for a while, then when you plugged it in and turn it on it worked. I never managed to find the problem, I just put a surge strip on it and left the strip turned off until I wanted to use it. Then first turn on the strip and then the tv would come on just fine. That was...
