Visio E600i-B3 will not power on.

Background
I recently fixed our Samsung black screen of death by watching YouTube videos and reading through previous threads. Removed a few ceramic capacitors and fixed a short on the back side of the tcon board. So my father and law asked me if I could try to fix his visio. He said that it wouldn't power on. When he first brought it to me I plugged it in and there was a standby light. When I hit the power button the TV booted up and everything worked. I hit the power button again and then I saw what he ment. Since then I have not been able to get it to power on or have a standby light.

I am still pretty new to board level repairs vs replacing. But this is the data I have gathered up.

Testing
Upon plugging in the TV and testing it in "standby mode" these are the results. I want to say after pressing the power button there was no change but I was tired so I can retest that if needed. I tested pins 1-15 on the power board side and then tested pins 1 - 15 on the main board side.
• 1. NC (power side - 0) (main side - 0)
• 2. Ac-DET (power side - 3.85v) (main side - 3.36v)
• 3. PS-ON (power side - 3.37) (main side - 3.84v)
• 4. 12V-AU (power side - 12.43) (main side - 0)
• 5. GND (power side - 0) (main side - 0)
• 6. GND (power side - 0) (main side - 12.42v)
• 7. GND (power side - 0) (main side - 0)
• 8. 12V REG (power side - 12.43v) (main side - 12.42v)
• 9. 12V REG (power side - 12.43v) (main side - 0)
• 10. NC (power side - 0) (main side - 12.43)
• 11. through 15. both power and main side registered at 0

All of the capacitors on the power board look to be in good shape. On the other hand, on the main board I followed the traces from the pins and tested a few random capacitors that were near that area. For reference I circled the general area of ceramic capacitors in red that I randomly tested and they were shorted.

Next Steps?
Should I replaced the shorted ceramic capacitors and test from there? I don't know if they would keep the ps-on from registering or not. If not what would be my next steps forward? Also I attached a picture of my workbench thats the tools available to me to use.

I narrowed it down to the main board, after being plugged in it felt extent hot above the main ic with heat sink. Once I removed the board on the underside of it there were scorch marks. Picture attached. I'll see what I can do but have a guy falling that I'm gonna have to buy a main board for this.

At least there is a bga issue. Shorted caps you say… why did the tv run then?

I have the same problem with m E600i-B3 just recently. Did changing the main board work? If so where did you buy a new main board?

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
by PantherDave
Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue
by GLISIT
Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Issue: No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

Short answer: replace main board and power board
Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

Long answer:

TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

Vizio M65-C1
by mrtek
Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

Toshiba L50-B-1Q0 (Main DABLIDMB8E0 REV:E) no power on
by robgerr
Good morning forum. This laptop comes into my laboratory with the defect that it won't turn on. By connecting the bench power supply I have an absorption of 1.56A (battery charging), I disconnect the battery, I have an absorption of 0.01A. I give the power on but it doesn't react. I check the mainboard and I notice the Isl88732 charger with oxide and a little burnt between pins 7-8. I remove the charger, clean the pads and solder another ISL coming from another identical board. I also find a bit of oxide in the power button connector. I clean the connector, clean the flat that goes to the power...
