    Samsung UN65JS9000 -

Hello, I have a Samsung UN65JS9000 that has a black screen and no backlights but has audio. Viewing screen with flashlight at an angle I dont notice any visible picture. If you unplug the connector from TCON board from the LED Driver Board the backlighting will come on. Also if you leave the connector from the TCON board to the LED Driver Board connected and disconnect one of the ribbon cables from the TCON board to the display, doesn't matter which one, the backlights will also come on. I replaced the TCON board without change. I since have been looking at the mainboard and have noticed that the Samsung DNIe chip gets very hot to the touch with the One Connect plugged in within 20 to 30 seconds, if the one connect is disconnected the chip is cool to the touch. Is it normal for this chip to get so hot or should I suspect a short causing it to get so hot? I am worried that I may have a bad display? Is there a way that I can confirm the display is bad? Or would another component be suspect? Any help or advice is much appreciate! I have been searching for a service manual for the TV but have not been able to find one for this model. If you can point me towards a service manual that would be great as well! Much Appreciated!!!!!

Check the LVDS signal pairs on the main board with an oscilloscope, while pressing the menu button on the remote on and of to force the osd to put something on the screen. If you don’t see anything changing on the oscilloscope, the main board is toast.

It's either the oscilloscope trick or throwing parts at it as replace main board and hope that it fixes the problem.

When I unplug one of the ribbon cables going from the TCON to the panel and the backlighting comes on. I also have the one connect connected. I can hit the source button on the remote and the backlighting will dim then come back on as if it is changing sources. If the one connect is disconnected the panel does not dim when hitting the source button on the remote. Does this indicate that the main board is responding?
