    Vizio E32-C1 PS ADTVE2108AC9

    Hi,

I recently picked up a Vizio E32-C1 that is dead with no power present at any of the output pins on the Power Supply connector. The PFC voltage is about 170 volts, and neither of the fuses are blown.

However, the switching MOSFET Q9101 is shorted Gate to Source, and the Source to Drain resistance is about 4K. Also, R9111 the current sense resistor (.22 ohm )has been blown open.

    So, the question is:

I have the MOSFET and resistor laying around but I am wondering if there is a good way to check the control chip a PFS6003AS before applying power and risking just blowing the resistor and MOSFET again, or is it a given with the known issues that the PFS6003AS should be replaced? Are there other components that should be checked / replaced, or is it just do I feel lucky?

The boards are cheap so no big risk here and a replacement board can be obtained for nearly the price to acquire all the components, but always more fun to actually make the repair.

Different Power Supply but good info on the PF6003AS

    Thanks

I suspect the ic is bad. If the source resistor went open it likely damaged the CS input of the ic, Also check the resistor between the CS pin and the source resistor, I would also check the components in the gate circuit as well. Then as a precaution I would replace the two small elect. caps C9107 & C9112 around the ic

Well good call R_J, a quick check and R9101, R9104, R9106, and R9109 are all open and some of the diodes are iffy. So it just got much cheaper just to replace the board. Hopefully, the TV will play nice after that as it is a full HD 32" so it should have a really nice pic.

Shopjimmy shows one but it says no returns for some reason, looks like several there:
