    Vizio 65”

    Hi everyone. My first thread here. I hope you guys can help.

    I have a 65” Vizio. e650i-b2.

    I got the TV for $40 yesterday because i feel like I can fix it.

    Here's what happens: I turn the TV on. White lite in the bottom left corner comes on. The backlights come on for the blank black screen. As soon as the logo comes on the back lights turn off and the white power light dims and the TV powers off. It is not the back lights. I am on the verge of replacing the power board or main board and have them both in my shopping cart. I need to know which you all think the most likely is to have failed so I can order that part. I think it is the main board but my knowledge is limited.

      Please use GO ADVANCED to attach the pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing all the boards so we can see what we are dealing with.

          I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

          Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

          I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

          The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

          With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

          Hi.

          picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
          When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
          This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

          No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

          Where is the short?

          Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

          Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware

          Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.



          It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
