I was given this set to look at, being told it was displaying either grey or half/half balck/white (50/50 split).
I powered it up and sure enough it gave the 50/50 split, thereafter it only showed "grey" (ie backlights on but no image).
I disconnected the tcon board one side at a a time. Unplugging one side gave the 50/50 split, the other side gave half black, half vertical magenta stripes (see 3rd image). Unplugging it altogether gave grey (almost black) as above.
Apparently it's less than 5 years since it was bought and it doesn't look like it's had a lot of use judging by how dust-free it is inside.
Just looking for an opinion (or two?) before ordering a replacement tcon.
NB the main chip on the board does look like it may have been quite warm, my worry is that something downstream may have caused it to cook and obviously I don't want the same fate to befall any replacement. Or is this normal?
Is there any way of checking the display panel for shorts?
Thanks in advance.
