    LG 47LW650S - no picture, no sound, no backlight, power ok?

    I had paused my media player and when I came back after 10-20 minutes the TV screen was black but the power LED was white, so the TV was still on. At first I thought it was a problem with my media player but soon I realised that it was the TV. I really want to (try to) repair it because they don't make new 3D TVs anymore.

    Symptoms:
    - no picture
    - no sound
    - no backlight
    - can still be turned on/off, power LED works (red/white)

    Product Code
    47LW650S-ZC.AEUYLJG

    Power Board
    EAX62865401/8 EAY62169801

    Mainboard
    EBT61401005 LD12C EAX63686303(3) 101216

    I checked the voltages on the 24-pin connector between the power board and the mainboard with the TV turned on:

    Code:
    3.5V  => 3.540V
    12V  => 11.93V
    24V  => 24.32V
    PWR-ON => 3.438V
    ERROR => 0V
    PWM  => 3.203V
    DRV-ON => 0.042V
    Anything else I should check before I use my hot air rework station on the SoC?

    "DRV-ON => 0.042V" Looks like the mainbooard is not sending the proper voltage to turn the backlights on.

      Try a simple reset, unplug tv for 5 minutes, hold power button in on tv for 30 seconds, plug tv in and try it.

        That was the first thing I tried, but still no picture/sound/backlight. The fuses on the power board are good, the voltages are good and visually everything looks good. It probably needs a SoC reflow/reball but I want to be 95% sure I didn't miss anything else before I attempt a (temporary) repair with some hot air.

          Try giving the bga a good heating with a hairdryer, see if it works if only for a bit.

            The TV works again

            - added flux around the edges of the SoC and tried to get it under the chip (not sure if this was necessary or had any effect)
            - used kapton tape to protect the nearby components from the heat/air
            - used my Aoyue 850C hot air rework station with the 9mm round nozzle on heat setting 5 and airflow setting 5 for about 1-2 minutes

                Bare in mind that this is often just a temporary fix so may be worth your while looking for a cheap replacement in the meantime.
                Willing to help but I'm no expert.

                  +10, might want to try a fan solution to try to keep the chip from overheating.

                    Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                    by Tynan Dill
                    I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                    Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                    I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                    The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                    With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

                    Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                    by Mgiffune
                    I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

                    I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                    Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
                    by TR103
                    Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                    - sound and backlight, but no picture
                    - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                    - it keeps rebooting
                    - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                    - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

                    Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                    by PantherDave
                    Hi all!

                    I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

                    I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                    XBR-65X850D Backlight/Power On Help
                    by BoardHoarder
                    Currently trying to save a 65” 850D that definitely has a main board issue. Power supply has standby voltage and PS ON pin shows 3.5VDC but main has no signs of life…..no light under Sony logo and no optical port lit up. 12VDC is created by main board but no input triggers from main = no TCON 12V and no BL ON voltage present. I know about the trick of pulling the main to trigger the test pattern from the TCON but I get no backlight. If I jumper the 3.5VDC to TCON ON and BL ON, I can shine a light on the panel and see solid green, red, blue and white cycling. The 4 + backlight pins on the power...
