Hi everyone,
just wanted to share my latest tv repair.
I bought a "broken tv" online for very little money.
(Too long; didn't read: Tv shuts down after few seconds. Replaced backlight LEDS and TV now works perfectly again)
Faults:
I plugged it in and it lighted up. LG logo showed and then the tv shut down.
I unplugged and repeated just for the heck of it with the same result.
So I turned it around and took the back cover off watching the boards while i turn on the tv.
After shutting down the error code LED "LD701" blinks 3 times, pauses and repeats.
i can't find any blinking code error lists, so I'll have to figure it out myself.
I always start by Checking the board for visual faults after which I begin unpluging elements from the boards and check if this helps. This is way faster and easier than disasembling a lot if you do not have to.
So I startet with wifi module, RC receiver, speakers etc. on at a time and restart the tv
It is not always possible to remove everything without the tv refusing to start up due to missing components, but this time I was lucky:
Unplugging the LED's meant the tv startet up just fine.
Some quick measurements with the multimeter showed that the voltages send to the LEDs were correct. So probably LED fault
I try and wait woth removing the panel for as long as possible. Especially with these 55" tvs theres always a risk of damage, but this time it seemed necessary.
I removed panel and sheets and turned on the leds again and found my fault.
Though it is possible to replace a single LED I always replace all the LED strips.
After replacing all the LED's the tv now works perfectly.
