Sony KDL-60W600B 5-Blinks

I got this Sony KDL-60W600B with power LED blinking 5 times. I suspected a T-CON failure (Part #: RUNTK 5475TP0106FV).

What I did is start by removing the main flex coming from the mainboard and turn it on again, now blinking error is gone.

Turn the set off reconnect the flex and turn it on blinking error is gone. I got a steady green light but the screen is totally BLACK. No backlight.

Anybody encountered this trouble before?

If you have the remote click channel up or down does the green light react?

If you have the remote click channel up or down does the green light react?

Yes, channel and volume are responsive.

With tv UNPLUGGED from power, unhook cable from powerboard to mainboard, leave off, plug power cord back into powerboard, is there anything on display?

Yes, I saw that thread and even resolder the connector for BL harness.

I did this mostly on Sony and the backlights should come on but this one nothing happens.

But when I randomly press the MENU button on the remote I can hear some melody then the backlight turns on but the screen is just blank.

Strange, maybe try a firmware update, looks like sony took it off their site as usual.

Maybe post a good clear picture of the map/legend of the pinouts there beside the connector cable on the powerboard, can try to test the powerboard by itself.

Post #7, so you have backlights but no image on the screen,then you need to find out if you do have 12VDC on both ends of the T-CON SMD fuse with ref.to GND or not.

There are instances that the backlight is working. but most of the time the backlights are OFF.

Already check the TCON board. 12V is present but all voltages for dc-dc are missing (see the yellow shaded part).

Maybe post a good clear picture of the map/legend of the pinouts there beside the connector cable on the powerboard, can try to test the powerboard by itself.

I was not able to get a descent image of board label but I'm attaching a part of service manual indicating the pinout.

Strange that it works sometimes, did you check all the solder joints of the powerboard, look closely at anything on heat sinks and transformer legs as they take the most abuse, sometimes they look good but are bad. CAREFUL not to touch things with your fingers there can be DEADLY voltage even when unplugged from power.

Can try using 2 about 1k resistors and jump POWER ON and BL ON to STBY 3.3, WITH cable from powerboard to mainboard UNHOOKED, then plug in power cord, see if you get proper voltages and backlights come on, may also need to use another resistor or so on another pin to stby not sure but can start there.

Yes done resoldering those area that are prone to heating.

I will try to FORCE ON the BL driver later. I have to put this unit aside for awhile since it occupies so much space on my working table.
