Panasonic LCD TV: TX-L42ETW5 won't display anything

    Symptoms:
Power On = green power LED flashing until it stays green. Any remote input turns the LED flashing then turns off. Trying to reset the TV, got me a 13 red code. (TV bought in 2013, wasn't used for a few months, tried to turn it on after that period, won't produce sound or video.)

    What did I try?:
Google lead me here to threads stating that my "A board" has to be replaced. (I assume that's where all the video inputs are.) Have looked on platforms like Ebay for replacements board, didn't find anything.

So I wonder if I could repair it myself with your help?

Here are some pictures of the boards:

If you have a multimeter, try test number 3 below, try to do it just as instructed.

Try do detach the tcon board that is the one on the bottom hided by a pair of shields, and then turn on tv with antenna in and scroling channels to find one with sound.

        @Davi.p

I've tried that and there was nothing. But I don't think that you can find any tv channel that way here in Germany, tho. They have changed the public tv channels to DVB-T2 few years ago.

        @nomoresonys

I will do so as soon as I have a multimeter here.

I found some information on your power supply (page 35) which may be of some use.
              Check for 24V on P4 pins 7,8 and 9

Re: Panasonic LCD TV: TX-L42ETW5 won't display anything

You have no BL_On signal (P4 pin 2 = backlight on signal) so you need to trace it.

                  Edit
It looks like it may well come from IC8000 which is an MN2W50250B, a large BGA device.

so if it is the ic8000, can I try to reflow it?

I would wait and see what others say but in the meantime you could do a search on BGA reflowing on the forum.

The manual I posted is not for your set but used the same power supply. Can you find the service manual for your set to confirm how BL_ON is controlled. It may be done differently on your set.

But what you have tested does show that the BL_ON is not being switched on.

That's the power supply board only and shows BL_ON link between P2 and P4 so not of any help.

Can you find the mainboard schematic TNPH0993 (TXN/A10WNUE). Can't see the number clearly.

                            I've found something here: https://****************/forum/86-85408-1
I am trying to register there and I am waiting for an email confirmation code, right now.

I've also tried heating up the ic8000 with a hairdryer for 10 minutes now, but nothing changed. I assume there was not enough heat. On this thread (same symptoms my TV has) one guy has been baking his whole A board which I could try too: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=22926

But the backlight is working? If yes try to change tcon, or if you can wait me to be back on the board i show you some tests to be made on tcon..

no, the backlight is not working. Anything I can test on the tcon board first?

Btw, I have failed the test on that stupid website, it's hard to answer 5 of 6 questions right when using google translator... Without passing that test I can't get the file. Had 2 tries my best was 4 of 6.......... At least, I can try it again the next day...

There isn't anything useful in the zip file, just a slightly blurry photo of the mainboard without the big heatsink.

There is a screw I can't screw off... I've tried for 10 minutes (with pliers/drilling machine using different drilling bits and rubber). I will have to bruteforce it later...

                                          Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Recapping Sony ICF-SW55 - verifying cap values
                                          by proxneo
                                          Dear reader

I am performing a repair on a Sony ICF-SW55, which includes recapping (some) of the SMD capacitors on the mainboard. I am looking for verification of their values. At the moment, I'm 95% sure I've got the right values, but it is hard to find some official, credible or multiple independant sources on this.

At the moment, I have selected replacements based on the following list of values:

                                          3 x 470uF 10VDC
                                          3 x 4.7uF 35VDC
                                          4 x 47uF 50VDC
                                          8 x 22uF 6.3 VDC
                                          1 x 220uF 6.3VDC
                                          5 x 100uF 6.3VDC

                                          Which...

                                          Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS repair

I'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.

Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.

I decided to verify that the batteries were...

Problem with PANASONIC CF53 laptop after changing BIOS settings

Hello. I am asking you for a hint on how to solve the problem with my touchbook Panasonic CF53-2 standart model. After setting up the BIOS, the laptop displays the wrong image until Windows loads. (More precisely, it displays, but distorted, instead of the Panasonic image immediately after turning it on, it displays what is in photo #1 in the attached file) Then the image appears when Windows starts loading and then there are no problems with the screen until the reboot. If you enter the BIOS, just a black screen. If you connect an external screen, the image on it is the same as on the built-in...

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing hereπŸ€”?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting πŸ˜‚.
