That information was in a service bulletin on how to force the power supply on. There are no schematics of any of the panel boards, including the power supplies. They were never ment to be repaired and were replaced as complete boards.

Re: Hitachi 55HDX99 Plasma Tries to turn on then shuts off

I did some probing around with the scope trying to figure out why there was no power getting to the Vs or Va rails. I probed the primary side of the transformer and was only getting a bit of noise instead of the high frequency switching that would be expected. I probed the gates of the switching transistors and only the upper one had a drive signal. So I probed the top of the resistor with a red arrow pointing to it and there was a drive signal there.

I tested the resistance of the resistors and sure enough, the resistor with the red arrow pointing to it was measuring anywhere from kohms to Mohms instead of the 120ohms it should have been. I removed the resistor from the board and tested it again. Surprisingly it tested just fine. So I soldered it back in and tested the board. I then had all of the voltages present. I put the TV back together and it's working great. The image attached is of the resistor before I removed it and resoldered it.

So a bad solder joint on a tiny smd resistor brought down the entire TV. At least it was a cheap fix.

Thanks for all the help in narrowing down the source of the problem.

Hitachi 55HDS69 55" Plasma TV - No Picture But Sound
            by KYBOSH
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...

Hitachi 55HDX99 Plasma Powers on but no picture
            by canadaboy25
Hey guys, I recently acquired a Hitachi 55HDX99 plasma TV that doesn't work. The TV powers on and eventually goes into standby which is indicated by the blue power led changing to orange. If I plug a VCR into it to keep it awake, I can feed an audio source in and it will play the sound no problem. The volume controls on the TV work as well so it is obviously just a display problem.

I found the Hitachi service manual online which is also hosted on tom66's manual archive. Compared to the Panasonic service manual I had for the last plasma I worked on, this one is underwhelming to say...

Hitachi 55HDX99 Plasma Display won't turn on
            by canadaboy25
Hey guys, recently I repaired a Hitachi 55HDX99 Plasma TV with help from you guys on this thread. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=75627
The problem ended up being a shorted buffer IC on the upper buffer board.

After the repair, the TV was working fine and we used it on and off for about 20hrs. However, the last time we were using it, the TV just turned off in the middle of watching a show. There was no power at all and the power button did nothing.

Unplugging the TV and plugging it back in makes all the relays click and the power light starts...

Samsung PN43E450A1FXZA (Plasma) - Display up for 4 mins, then shuts itself down
            by berriferous
Set was manufactured in 2012. I'm trying to diagnose where the problem is. I am assuming it is over-currenting after heating up? Display looks fine until it decides to shutdown. If I keep turning it on, it will eventually refuse to power up and requires unplugging to get it to respond again.

I originally thought there would be some easily detected bad electrolytic capacitors, but I don't see the telltale signs. There might be some very minimal bulging on one of the x buffer board. BN96-22092A (LJ92-01852A).

If I unplug the power feed to the X/Y board (LJ92-01854B), the...

Hitachi Plasma TV 42HDT79 firmware upgrade
            by Yanleb
Do you know where I can find a firmware upgrade for the Hitachi 42HDT79 plasma TV? My set currently has firmware V0112.0001.

Their service website seems to be on SalesForce now, which requires a login.

            Thanks.
