    Vizio E60-E3 Half screen/Horizontal lines

Hello everyone, I have a Vizio E60-E3 that I just replaced the backlight strips on but while I had the screen sitting off to the side my cat decided to chew on one of the side ribbons, Now the right side of the screen is blank and I have horizontal lines going completely across the screen where the cat chewed the ribbon. I had to disconnect one of the t-conn ribbons to get the other side of the screen to even come on. Does anyone know of a way to repair this or is it a lost cause?

If you have ribbons on BOTH SIDES of tv, talking about SIDES not top and bottom, you can peel away the tabs on the bad side and should fix it, I'm sure the others will chime in, they love to help with this.

I don't have the boards on the side, all I have are the ribbons that are not attached to anything. Here is a pic, this is not my actual screen but it is the same screen.

The boards aren't that important... its the tabs that potentially are the issue. Check them to see if there is any visual heat type looks and maybe gently feel them to see if there is any difference.

before you do anything... psot a picture of the screen with a good input (test pattern) so that the forum can see what is happening.

PS. Maybe feed the cat more often... :-)

Thanks for the replies guys, budwich, the one tab that my cat decided to chew on is definitely damaged.

OK.... so "potentially", you can remove that tabs on that side and you willl get a good tv...BUT there can be other issues when a panel is "worked" on.... hence, the request for a picture of the display before you start doing "major surgery".

Here are some pictures for reference, 1st pic is with both tcon ribbons in place, 2nd pic is with right side (looking from the front of the tv) of tcon disconnected. 3rd pic is of damaged right side ribbon.
I see the horizontal lines and i also notice a dark discolored blotch in the upper part of the screen. Can a tcon cause the dark discolored blotch or is this panel toast?

well.... as you figure, the only chance for success is if that "dam cat" didn't chew on the opposite side AND didn't damage the actual panel near / around where the chewing took place. IF you are lucky, remove (gently pull the tabs along the "bad side"... like removing tape) all the tabs along the bad side. The set should then respond with basically an OK picture unless you have "golden eyes" in which case you may see some minor issues in terms of uniformity (eg. large bright area may show some less bright) and you may notice some other "artifacts" due to the set only operating with one side of drivers.... but in general, the set will be useable... assuming you can keep the cat away. :-)

LCD Tv starts to display black horizontal lines after half an hour of use
                    by Gjackson
Hi, I have a sort of old Grundig LCD Led TV that starts to display black horizontal lines after some use. After it's been turned off for a while and cold it does not display any artifacts however after some use it starts to display some faint horizontal lines at the top of the screen and a bunch in the middle of the screen. The longer the tv is on the worse they get until they become very clearly visible. I suspect that heat has something to do with this as when the lines start to appear i notice that the tv's metal case has gotten warm. Could the T-CON start to malfunction when it starts to get...

Sony XBR65X900H TV with Horizontal Lines right half of screen
                    by dvu0627
I have a Sony Smart TV XBR65X900H that started to have horizontal lines on the right side of the screen (see attached picture). When I played video on Youtube green horizontal line at regular intervals(1/4") across the screen.
I replaced the T-Con board but the lines are still there.
I believe this issue is from the Main Board. Before I replace the Main board, I wanted to seek advise if this is the problem from the Main board or something else?
                    Thank you for the help....

Hi guys, I have a Vizio M58Q7-J01 and now there are some colored horizontal lines on the screen. Could someone tell me if it's probably a panel issue or something related to other parts and can be fixed? Thank you in advance....

Vizio V555-H1 - Horizontal lines then double image bursts
                    by jason123
                    Hi there,
I think it might be a bad panel but I thought I'd ask before I chuck it..

thin colored horizontal lines bottom and thin section on top. As it runs warmer, you can see some ghosting or double image. Right hand side of the screen darker then brighter (backlight is always on, so it's the actual LCD that gets darker and brighter)

Replaced the Main board, because I had one handy, no change.

Is it worth replacing TCON? disconnecting ribbon on one side of the panel, the lines appear still on the other side (unplugged side.)

                    ...
