Prima LC-27K6 27" LCD TV Help

    Hello,

I am helping someone with a problem with their Prima TV.

The original problem was that the TV won't start. The red LED went off and back to red LED after a few seconds. When it works, the LED will turn blue and the picture will start.

He ordered a P/S from somwehere and replaced it. It worked for about 3 weeks and the same thing happened again.

He is a bit reluctant to order another P/S.

This is where I come in.

I looked at the original P/S and there are no domed caps. I left my ESR-Micro at work..

I found the s/m for this TV here:

    S/M

Page 37 is the schematic for the p/s. It pretty well matches with what I see inside.

Now, this p/s puts out 24V & 5vsb. I checked with DMM and the 5v is there. No 24v.

To check the functionality of the p/s, I removed it out of the TV.

Can I jumper pin 2 to pin1 on the p/s output to force the p/s turn on (maybe then see if 24v rail comes up)?

    Thanks guys.

I don't think so. It appears pin 1 is the control pin. IF I am reading the schematic correctly, it must be driven high to turn the TV on.

On page 37, pin 1 is connected to the output of T903 and I have 5v there with just the ac power connected. X903 is not connected to anything.

      The 24v on pins 6-8 are 0.

That's why I think I should be able to short pin 2 to pin 1 thus sending 5v to V905 and maybe something will happen (hopefully not a BOOM).

I don't know if 24V rail is enabled by the action on pin2.

      Anyone?

Hi, ... I've got the same problem with my Prima, red light issue, no blue. No power, no picture. Did you ever work out the power supply issue?

If the power supply turns on sometimes. test or replace caps on power supply.

Was the power supply replaced with a used one? Both supplies have the same problem?

I don`t like forcing something to turn on unless It tells sme how to do it for troubleshooting. ( pioneer 50hdt50 plasma troublshooting the power supply ).
