    Prima LC-3237D Washed Out Screen

I recognized this problem as a bad Tcon and specifically a classic AS15F chip failure. This would be my first attempt at this type of repair without a proper rework station.

Borrowing a heat gun, I replaced it with a RM5101 off another Tcon board. Checking the screen, it appeared fixed, so I put everything back together and further testing indicated it was not fixed since the video had image retension (like burn in) and was a bit dark.

I just bought Hakko 937D clone off ebay with super fine tips so figured I'd touch up the joints. There appeared to be a short on one side of the chip and I ended lifting pads and bending pins on that side working it too much. On the plus side, the other three sides look pretty good though a teeny bit out of alignment.

Soooo close. A 10yr old, off-brand 32" TV isn't worth that much so not that big of a loss but it would have been nice to fix it.

So far I have found the hardest thing to do is disordering. I have ruined a few boards trying to remove components
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
        by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
        by kca
        Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
        by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
        by smic717394
        Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...
