    TCL Televisions - Any Good?

Never seen one in the workshop until now.
Customer said he was updating the tv when screen went blank and now nothing.
I am pretty sure its just the bios/firmware chip needing reflashed - anyone know if you can use a laptop/serial port to reflash or am I going to have to get my eeprom reader/burner out?

Was wondering what you guys think of them if anyone has ripped one apart and checked out what caps they use, circuit design, reliability etc

The only thing I have heard is that their software / firmware is pretty dire slow and prone to bugging out during a firmware update and borking the tv lol?

I hear they have their own screen fab plant and have great reviews in America.

    Thanks in advance

My opinion is they SUCK. Cheapest components and poor LEDs. It's just my take on them.

Cheers @Budm interesting to see they make phones under the Blackberry name and started off ripping off TDK!

Cheers Tim we do not really have them in the UK none in any of the shops just on Amazon so you would probably be best placed as they are one of the top selling makes in the States and Eastern europe i believe?

Yeah, they are cheap enough to buy a new one every 2 years. Not for me. I still love my plasmas.

The ground floor living room, has a Sony Bravia LCD TV that actually has a resemblance to CRT longevity! It's over seven years old and still no signs of a real deal TV failure coming, IIRC. Wouldn't be surprised if it's about 9 1/2 years old already!

Me too Tim - I have fixed my own LG 50PK590 (Don't Laugh) plasma 3 times now and its still going strong and my Panasonic 103 inch plasma in the games room is the envy of all my mates even though it only cost $500 it beats most of the LCD mid range models out now!!!

Fujitsu isn't bad, I have motherboards with their polymer-type-or-like caps and they go on for years. No evidence of them being bad. Ever since Asus went to their FPCAP series, things have been going smooth.

                      Hello to everyone ,

This is my first post here, and i would like to share with you a small story in case you can help me.

Docker Type-C Gen 2 - Model 40AS. Was given to me by a friend for free ,but with the problem that you cannot use the video output ports.

All ports work , USB , Ethernet, Type C ... but HDMI + Display Port don't work

I searched on reddit and google for problem similar to that, and a LOT of people had fixed this problem by updating the firmware. So i tried , i searched and found 1.1.13 utility and 1.1.20 utility that can help...

                      by zklgfs
                      Hi,

I have an Anker SoundCore 2 (A3105) that I saved from the trash (well, I guess there's a reason why it was supposed to go into the trash...). The problem is that it always turns off after a few seconds (sometimes it stays on a bit longer, between 30 and 60 seconds, but it still turns off). The power light turns on and the bluetooth light starts blinking, but both abruptly turn off again. The "turn off sound" is still played after the lights turn off. Sometimes, it also loops the on-off cycle several times without me pressing any buttons. If I connect an AUX cable, music...

                      AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request

                      Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

                      Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share a recent experience I had with a laptop that had a Type-C Port issue, specifically related to a PD (Power Delivery) controller problem. After replacing the damaged PD controller chip with a new one I purchased from AliExpress, the laptop now charges properly and negotiates power as expected, allowing the device to power up. I've replaced this chip twice just in case.

However, it seems that the laptop's BIOS is detecting an older version of the PD Firmware on the newly installed chip. As a result, it attempts...
