Vizio D40-D1 - No Sound Only

Had a spare mainboard and speakers from another set, once that didn't work I ordered a repair kit from SJ to try and fix this TV. I made sure to check that the TV speakers are set to On in the menu. Either I have defective parts or bad speakers which is unlikely. So far I tried 3 mainboards and two speaker sets, can it be something related to the panel board? Testing sound using the HDMI and the built in Youtube app. I don't come across many sound issues, but I expected to be only the mainboard. Am I not looking at the right areas?

Did you try a different hdmi cable if that's what you are using?
Television Has No Sound Answer 1: Make sure TV is not muted.

Television Has No Sound Answer 2: Make sure the TV is not set to SAP (secondary audio protocol)

Television Has No Sound Answer 3: Make sure TV input is correct (someone may have accidentally pressed the “aux” input button or similar causing the TV to use an input with no sound going to it)

Television Has No Sound Answer 4: Make sure there is not a pair of headphones connected to the TV audio out jack on the side or front of your TV.

Television Has No Sound Answer 5: Check all of the cables that are connected into the back of your TV. (it is possible the TV was moved slightly and a cable has become disconnected or loose)

Television Has No Sound Answer 6: If you have a receiver or surround sound connected to your TV, turn it on and see if you get sound coming from the external speakers.

Television Has No Sound Answer 7: Turn off the TV, cable box, and anything else connected to the TV. Sometimes turning everything off and then back on can fix the problem.

Television Has No Sound Answer 8: If using an “S” video cable into an input on the back of your TV, these cables carry no sound, just video, so make sure you connect an audio cable too.

Television Has No Sound Answer 9: Hook up an external device to the “TV audio out” input. This will be the test to see if it is a TV circuit board malfunction or the speakers are faulty in your TV.

Television Has No Sound Answer 10: If you are connected to a satellite box, use the included remote and go into the “menu”. Check to make sure sound settings are set correctly.

Have you checked if you have +12V_A from the power supply, I believe that is the 12 volts for the audio output

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

        Assuming...

        by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

VIZIO (V555-H1) Television with odd cascading display fault
        by Garret Matt.
        Hello,

I'm working on a Vizio Model V555-H1 that displays a cascading series of horizontal lines when first powering on. These lines appear to be in the shape of the Vizio Logo and descend until reaching the logo before resetting to the top and continuing their descent. I have reseated my TCON board and dusted connections but still have this fault displaying. I'm familiar with vertical lines but this one is a new one for me. My research into this problem hasn't yielded results as keyword searches point back to vertical line problems.

        Anyone have any recommendations? I...

Vizio M65-E0 No Picture, No Sound
        by ggil44
Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB (Chassis SR) TV Repair Help - Distorted Subwoofer Sound and overall weird sound waveforms
        by LEECH666
        Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...
