    Sony KDL-52EX700 - 5 Blinks

    I've read some horror stories about this TV series with 5 blinks. I was watching TV at a friends house (Nice set - not 4k but great pic) then all of a sudden the TV shut off. Pushing the Power button, yields switch from red to green LED. Seems like it's going to start, then goes to Red LED. Then Red LED off, and blinks 5 times, and repeat.

    I tried the Display + 5 + Vol - + Pwr, but nothing turns on. Unplugged from wall, pressed the PWR on set for 30 second, replugged it in, no change

    Where do I start Anyone has experience with this that can save some time on troubleshooting? I downloaded the Service manual and the troubleshooting guides from Sony. There is No damage to the panel, went from on, to basically non-functional. Help is appreciated.

      Page 27 of the service manual. 5 times blinking trouble shooting.

          Thanks - This error seems to have cause many people headaches - some reported TCON failure, some LCD Damage, Some even just cleaning the LVDS took care of the problem. Just looking for tips on going about this.

              Shorted panel tabs (board between panel and TCON) was the issue.. non-fixable unfortunately.

                  The caps on that tab bonding boards none of them shown as shorted?

                      There were actually burn marks on the flex cables ... too many to attempt a repair. I didn't go further to find the cause. As soon as I disconnected the panel, back light on, sound on, and so on.. so at least I know the components are good and I can get some ca$h back

                          Hi everyone! I am a new member and am new to electronics repair. I have a background in electrical engineering, but little experience in electronics.

                          I have a Sony XR-77A80K which will not turn on and has 5 blinking red lights in the stand-by light. I had previously done a forced factory reset, which removed the error code, and the TV regained functionality for a few weeks. I repeated the factory reset and again regained functionality. This happened a few times until I so I had to begin troubleshooting the error.

                          Hello,

                          I have problem with SONY 55X90J. After several check status is as below;
                          1. Running power board as stand alone:

                          TCON_12V =~ 12.6V
                          EVDD V On Max 24V= 19V.

                          2.                          Running power board with TCON as stand alone:

                          Effect as below, attched.

                          3. When bottom LVDS cable is disconnected no blinks, but of course no TCON 12V and EVDD.
                          "I'm almost sure it's a defective panel, but maybe someone has encountered a similar issue on their screen.

                          Hi everyone. First post on Badcaps!

                          I am trying to fix a Sony 940E from 2017 that either starts normally (and works perfectly until turned off) or goes straight to the 6 blinks error code without showing anything on the screen. It is frustrating to know that it can still work perfectly but is barely usable because of the difficulty starting it up. I am willing to try to short the BL_ERR but I would like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone have a view on this? Thanks a lot....

                          I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

                          Hi all,

                          I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?

                          Any Sony experts out there that can help??...
