Re: RCA RLDED5078A backlight ?
If LCD panel is not the same model then it will not likely to use the same LED strips, look up the spec of the LCD panel number to get more info.
What kind of test have you done to determine if you have backlights problem or not?
BTW, providing good clear pictures of what we are dealing with also help.Last edited by budm; 11-25-2018, 05:10 PM.Never stop learning

Re: RCA RLDED5078A backlight ?
There was a couple forums already started on here with same model number of TV, I checked voltages as they did and got same results, both threads ended with bad strips and worked once they were replaced, the RLDED4633 I can't find any replacement parts to reference off of shopjimmy but I can for the RLDED5078, only list 50' RCA's with having same strips, so I assume there not compatible, I usually just buy replacement strips but how much work is there to getting a proper rework station for replacing single LEDs in strips instead of replacing whole stripComment

Re: RCA RLDED5078A backlight ?
The RLDED5078A has a few suffix versions and RLDED5078A-D has at least two different backlight configurations. I initially replaced the LEDs with transplanted used LEDs from another RCA tv but think it is better to use new LEDs. The LG 3V 3528 ones will work (search Aliexpress) but need to be offset by about a mm. Shopjimmy sells a hotplate for replacement or you can use a hot air station though it tends to brown the strip slightly. Maybe I should try turning down the temp a bit lower than 400 deg.Comment

by DXseekerMOHello everyone!
Recently I've noticed that some ShopJimmy backlight strips don't have double-sided tape installed upon them when an application calls for it, and I must purchase the tape separately. In a recent chat conversation with a customer service agent I told them if this tape wasn't applied when it was called for I would begin to consider ordering my backlight strips elsewhere. It looks like this time may have come.
I recently got a TCL 65S4 with bad backlights. After looking at the SJ listing here: https://www.shopjimmy.com/tcl-jl-d65...365as-m-led-ba...Yes0%1All backlight strips are the same quality0%1No0%0 -

it shows not even a flash of backlight when powering up.
but the tv appeas to turn on and i can hear the sound of the menus moving and clicking. i can power down the tv with the button.
testing the backlights with my tester all 4 strings lit up and showed similar voltage drops. around 110 or so.
unplug mb and leave only psu plugged into backlights (PSU + BL SELF TEST MODE?) does not light the backlights.
i do see 24v but 0v on PSON and BLON (i didnt write this down tho so cant be sure)

by DanPokaI bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...-

by Comp_ProHello all,
Am trying to figure out this backlight issue with this A1990 Macbook Pro.
Tests performed:
There is no backlight even with a good screen.
Backlight IC is receiving the correct support voltages.
Fuse F8400 ok
Current sense resistor R8400 ok
Backlight IC is receiving 3.3V on enable pin.
Backlight IC receiving voltage from PPBUS_G3H, aprox 12.5V.
Backlight IC receiving 5V from PP5V_G3S
Backlight IC BKLT_SCL and BKLT_SDA both measure 0.545V diode mode to ground
I2C_BKLT_SCL and I2C_BKLT_SDA both measure... -
by triplefourthis tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even... - Loading...
