Samsung UN40H5203AFXZA submitted for your disapproval.....

Picked up this tv because the owner described it as "dead". It is in fact not dead, it has backlights and sound when connected to a DVD player, problem is "no display". if you leave both t-con ribbon cables connected and turn the tv on there is no image.

Picture one is if you power up the tv with the left (as viewed from the front) tcon cable disconnected.

Picture two is if you connect the left t-con cable while the tv is on.

Picture three is once again with the left cable disconnected but you can see different results after cleaning the ribbon cables.

Picture four is once again connecting the left t-con cable while the tv is on. I added it just because the display is different than the first test.

if you think it necessary I can provide pictures of the boards but didn't want to waste the space on the website if most people think it's a bad panel.

as always, thanks for your time.

On pictures 1 & 3 I see a dark shadow near the bottom, I wonder if this tv had its screen washed and water/cleaning fluid may have corroded the panel's board, the board that the t-con cables connect to in the panel.

RJ, yes now that i'm viewing these pics without the "glow" of the tv directly in front of me I see those "shadow" areas too. I had the panel out to inspect for any physical damage such as the tabs pulled off and saw none. I didn't really see any staining at the base of the panel either but I realize if this panel has been fluid damaged there's probably no help for it.
