Re: Samsung UN40H5203AFXZA submitted for your disapproval.....
RJ, yes now that i'm viewing these pics without the "glow" of the tv directly in front of me I see those "shadow" areas too. I had the panel out to inspect for any physical damage such as the tabs pulled off and saw none. I didn't really see any staining at the base of the panel either but I realize if this panel has been fluid damaged there's probably no help for it.

Samsung UN40H5203AFXZA submitted for your disapproval.....
Picked up this tv because the owner described it as "dead". It is in fact not dead, it has backlights and sound when connected to a DVD player, problem is "no display". if you leave both t-con ribbon cables connected and turn the tv on there is no image.
Picture one is if you power up the tv with the left (as viewed from the front) tcon cable disconnected.
Picture two is if you connect the left t-con cable while the tv is on.
Picture three is once again with the left cable disconnected but you can see different results...

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
Well, I think I'm having fun. The mainboard people said tcon, the tcon people said main board so I tried another tcon. Unfortunately......this tcon was worse than the last one, the screen would barely show the "apps" before reverting to the 2/5 code so at most it was on for a few minutes. In the mean time I thought what the heck.....I'l throw a mainboard at it. I installed it last night. well, what do you know, no more 2/5 code but......now I have the 1/1 code. Thanks to one of the posts on this board I learned that with...

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
You know how when you back your car out of the driveway to go to work in the morning and every morning your car makes this certain noise? So, you finally schedule an appointment at the dealership but the morning you go to the dealership for your appointment it doesn't make the noise, they keep the car all day and you even ride with the technician and still no noise. that's kinda how this tv is.....it won't fail consistently. You might turn it on and it stay on five minutes before the code appears, you then might turn the tv on again...

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
Well, I didn't do so good finding any "counters" on the 26 pages of menu. I even tried highlighting the errors I had found and clicking on "enter" of the remote hoping that would reveal something but nothing. Page 25 I think it was did list 70LE633 as the model number. In fact.....except for a few flickers while i was in the service menu the tv worked just fine while watching another 2 hour dvd with some Pandora mixed in. On Thursday night the tv had gone into the 2/5 code with either the left or the right or even...

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
I was able to look at the error counters Monday 4/10/17, there were two, I cleared them. The tv worked for 30 mins on the Pandora app then 30 mins on a DVD with no problems, by that time it was 1 a.m. and I turned it off.
Tues. I turned the tv on and about the time the wifi signal connected the tv went to the 2/5 code. I turned it off then on, it remained on for another 2 hrs when I turned it off.
Wednesday I turned the tv on and at least 3 or 4 times it turned it self off with the 2/5 code. I disconnected...

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
I picked it up broken with the key phrase being......"it doesn't come on any more." First time I plugged it in it flashed the 2/5 code with no picture, no backlighting. the manual says 2/5 is a power issue so I threw a power board at it, no effect. Then a cheap tcon I got from ebay $35, no effect. I then threw an ebay power board at it and for the first time I got backlights but a 1/1 code, that's when I decided to have the original main board tested by PTS, they said it was okay and suggested that the tcon was the problem,...

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
The main board was checked and found to be working correctly in their test facility by pts electronics. I take their word for it since had they wanted to they could have charged me for the repair and I probably wouldn't have been able to tell the difference but they only charged me the test fee. They were unable to test any of the other boards. The tcon came from a company that removes parts from damaged TV's, Shop Jimmy. I had ordered from them before to repair a Panasonic plasma. According to the manuals I've downloaded the tv has...

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
Ok.....here's something else I just noticed. Before, I could never access the menu because I had no picture. I thought I'd access the menu to see if there were any "light errors" and if so, I'd erase them. I held down input and volume down while plugging in the tv and noticed the following. The back of the tv lists model number LC-70LE733U but the service menu lists model number LC-70LE633U. Where is this model number generated from? could this have been the TV's problem all along?

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
There was one thermal pad on each of what i'll call the central processing unit of both the main board and tcon. I made sure I installed both on the boards when I installed them.

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
Yes, I had. Before I sent off my main board and purchased this last tcon board I had tried disconnecting each tcon cable individually and then each corner cable individually. At no time was there any response from the tv as far as any kind of picture and the backlights never even tried to come on, it was though the tv was "dead" except for the blinking center icon. I know the method is to disconnect one cable and then the next to see which part of the screen has a clear picture but I never had a picture at all so there was...

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
Update***update***update
Although not as satisfying as fixing it yourself I decided to send my mainboard to a company that repairs the boards or has the ability to check yours and see if it's working properly. If it's working properly the cost is about half. Unfortunately the mainboard was the only board they were able to inspect and repair. They did inspect it and found it to be working normally which left me wondering about my tcon which they also indicated could be the problem. The tcon I had replaced came from ebay...

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
Well, well, well......persistence has paid off, or starting to. I removed the entire front bezel/surround and a brace that ran the entire height of the tv but finally found the bottom corner cable and it is NOT white on my tv as the picture shows, making it different from the TV's I've seen posted on here so far, maybe this will help someone else. We'll see what happens in the next few days.....

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
Continuing on with voltage checks of connector PD of the power supply board "before" the tv begins to blink 2/5. This is just with the tv plugged in because it will begin to blink 2/5 without turning it on.

Re: Sharp 70" model LC-70LE733U 2-5 blinks
my tcon board only has two lower cables and whether I disconnect the left or right or both when I power on the tv using the reset procedure it eventually reverts to the blink code of 2/5.
Attached are pics of the right lower corner of my tv and a picture of the edge, to me it just doesn't look the same as yours.
as always thanks for your time and input,
Pete...
