Hello,

I've been trying to find out how some of you are able to troubleshoot this particular card without a schematic or list of components and their locations? I need to repair mine, but I just wanted to replace all the electrolytic caps instead of screw around testing them...but then I noticed some other folks had issues with the MOSFETS shorting out.

So basically I just need to find out what the part numbers/specs are for these components and figure out if I can buy them locally (most likely at Fry's Electronics) or order them online.

Once again the p/n of the PS card I'm repairing is bn44-00514a, and the card originates from a Samsung 60" 3D Plasma TV (PN60E7000FFXZA).

MOSFETs, Diodes, ICs should have the P/N printed right on the body, so once you get the number then just search to see who has them in stock, you can also look up the spec sheet for them.

All the MOSFETS in question have this white rubbery glue-like silicone covering them. That stuff safe to remove? FYI it's not Heat Sink Grease.

The white silicone adhesive? The adhesive is used for holding the component in place during wave soldering process.

Well I give up. So far all the components look fine (no burns/discolorations/bulged caps). I tested every diode as well and they all seem to work.

What happens is when I watch TV the screen will go black and the set will turn off (red standby power light also shuts off briefly). Then the TV "clicks" back on (it doesn't make that noise normally). Everytime it did it, the click would get louder and louder. Eventually it was happening every couple minutes which is when I decided to turn off an unplug the TV for good till I could fix it. I just replaced this power supply card in March for the same issue, and now it's doing it again. Maybe I got a defective card? It's just outside of the 90 day warranty (by like a few days). Convenient.

Here is a repair kit and part locations. I would touch up all the major solder points on transformers and anything on a heatsink.

Thank you for your help TVTimmy. But i've seen this list before and it doesn't give info about the individual components. What I'm looking for is the type of capacitor I need to buy. I can read the capacitance and voltage, as well as the temp, but there are other factors like ESR and Size that come into play that I cannot identify conventionally.

Also what i'd like to do is upgrade the caps to something more tolerable, for example a higher temp tolerance and higher voltage value (like from 100 to 125). There's plenty of space on the board in case the caps are bigger than what's currently there, but I just want to make sure I'm getting exactly what I need.

I'm worried the board I already have was repaired using a kit like the one you gave info for, where the caps were low-quality. This could be the reason for the failure after only having used it for 3 months.

I use PANASONIC FM/FR series for all the repair. Just download the spec sheet from Digikey to get the dimensions and the lead spacing that will fit your board.

Hey I figured out what you're talking about now. Sweet thanks for the info. I'm not sure what spec sheet to look at, but the problem is that they do not offer caps rated at 100v, and I have a few like that.

I think you guys aren't getting what I'm still trying to figure out....

I need help determining the ESR of the caps I need to replace. For example if I were to replace a 100v 470uF 105 degree Celcius cap, I can search for those specific examples on the sites you guys have mentioned so far.

But there's an issue....
There's like 15 different version of caps with the same specs, except the differences are form factor, lead width, and ESR.

The ESR is important because it deals with internal plus external impedance. I have no way of figuring that out because I don't have a schematic of the circuit I'm replacing the caps in.

So the ultimate question is....does ESR matter and if so how do I figure out what I need (like how to determine/calculate the ESR)?

Do you still have the original caps? Maker of the caps? If you have them then you can look for the spec sheet for them to use as the reference.

Please someone could help me the power board BN44-00515A . Or someone have the schematic power board to check the SMD diode DX859 what's the value then I can replace. On top the body diode numbers B14 224 .can't find it

What is the P/N of that SMPS IC so we can look up the spec sheet to see how that pin of the IC where the diode is connected to being used.
Can also see the same picture without bad color? It also looks like of the pad is damaged.
We also need the straight shot pictures of the whole top and bottom side of the board.

On board the IC CX802(3BR2565JF) Pin 2 connect to the diode DX859 (the diode is short).

I bought the repair kit from ShopJimmy. before I solder. I check some component around the IC then find out the diode is short. May you help me to find the diode ?
I was contact to the Samsung parts. they told me to buy the board .that's is not help.
