Vizio e470i-a0 - no HDMI inputs and image ghosting

    Hello again friends!

I have a Vizio e470i-a0. When I received the unit, had no backlighting at all, but tv menu image could be seen with flashlight. After some quick research and testing, found problem to be bad LED strips. Ordered and replaced no problem. Backlighting is now working fine, connected an HDMI input (I use my Chromecast for testing tvs) and TV is not recognizing any HDMI inputs. Also, anytime the screen displays a picture (i.e. menus, "no source found", etc), the picture is displaying fine, but the images are leaving what I would call ghosting on the black screen where they once were. For example, the menu window displays, then when exiting the menu window, a ghosting outline of the menu window remains.

I am assuming these two problems existed before fixing the LEDs, I just had no way of seeing them beforehand. Could these 2 issues be related to the same fault? i.e. bad main board? TIA

It isn't the leds. Posting some photo's highlighting the fault could prove useful.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

That sounds like a T-CON Bd issue. Look on the T-CON Bd. for the VGL (Von). If this vital voltage is missing you would get that "slow motion' issue.

I already replaced the LED strips (those were bad beforehand), and now the backlighting is working. It was not before. That is not my issue here. I am not sure I will be able to take a picture clear enough to be able to see the ghosting on the black screen I am talking about. I can try.

Not sure I would describe it as slow motion. When any picture (non-black) is being displayed, i.e. the tv menu or the "No signal found" window, it displays just fine. Colors, resolution, etc all good. But as soon as you exit the menu (or go back to black screen) (and yes with backlights still on) you can faintly see the outlines of where a picture was. Like the menu box is still faintly there, very lightly.

Not sure if I explained it any better lol, sorry :P Next time I get a chance I will try to take a pic.

have you tried other inputs. rca, aerial, vga, component etc.
sounds to me that you could still be looking at 2 different problems,
not finding input= i would be looking at the main board,
and double image/ghosting= could be tab bond/panel issue.
WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?

Please post a photo so we could at least see what we are working with. At this point we are guessing and groping in the dark. Your thread is at Post No. 6 and you have not included a photo.

Looks like a bad Panel. Thanks for the pics. Could you post a pic with a signal so we could see what the Panel is doing there? Have you tried adjusting the brightness, contrast and backlight settings?

Thx for the help with the little info I was able to supply. I have decided to scrap this TV for now and move on to another that I am working on. Thx again.
