wow that is one "ugly" set of bottom tabs and edge boards. It is very likely that some of those tabs along the bottom are marginal... the bonding at the panel (thermally glued) are not good and can't be repaired. With the set on, take a pencil with an eraser end and gently touch / push on some of the tabs at or near the area of the vertical lines and see if you can impact the display (ie. lines get better or worse)... that will be the hint that those tabs are in trouble. IF you are lucky you might find the right ones and maybe be able to put some form of "thermal pad" pressure to hold the tab down better ... but in general, it is unlikely to be a long term fix. :-(

So essentially, the design of this television lends itself to failure? The amount of bands increases the margin for failure of the unit because more can go wrong?

That's what I got out of your reply at least. Based on what I have read and seen online I was wondering if this was a possibility; hence why I wanted to ask questions before I could endorse spending money on parts that may not fix the TV and put my relative out of $30.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

        Assuming...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
        by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
        by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....

Physically bending the T-Con board creates horizontal dotted lines on OLED55CXPUA
        by fredtred
        Hello!
I have been trying to solve this issue the past 12 months to no avail. I have been a lurker here during that time but finally decided to post my problem and see if anybody knows a solution.

        Problem
My tv (OLED55CXPUA) has an issue where it displays horizonal lines of dotted artifacts.

        (See Attachment 1)

        Self Diagnosing
After a very long troubleshooting period I traced the issue to the T-Con board. If I gently flexed/bend the board I could make the display go from GOOD to BAD and vice versa. I have ruled out the connectors/wires...
