    Sony KDL-46EX523 standby light red, turns off upon power, no blinks

    Hello all!

    Dealing with a Sony KDL-46EX523 LED-backlit TV. Upon providing power, the standby LED is red, but when pressing power the LED goes off without any blinking. Pressing power again has no effect (does not go back into standby).

    The power supply is an APS-285. Checked the 12V pins and 3.3V standby, both are present at standby and after pressing power. Caps look fine.

    Hoping someone can shed some light on this

      Does the back light come on?

          Not that I can see. I'll test the backlit output and see if anything happens when I first press power. I'm leaning to a bad PSU.

              Could be also a bad main board not sending BLon to the PSU.

                  Hi,

                  i'would like to fix my not working LG 49UB850V tv.

                  Symptoms:
                  -AC plugged in, Standby LED not working
                  -Switching on, Standby LED blinks 3x. LD2300 on mainbord lights up and after ~30s LD701 on PWS board starts to blink 5x repetetive

                  Checked already:
                  -Powersupply Output in Standby => 3.5V ok
                  -Switching On => PWR_On on P201 goes high and 3.5/12/24V are present on P201

                  Any suggestions what to check next?

                  I have got a Sony HCD-BX7700dbi that isn't worth a lot but I'm keen to learn how to repair and would appreciate some help with my train of thought. The protection circuit is kicking in and the standby light is blinking. It goes into protection mode within a second of powering it on.

                  My Samsung UE75TU7020k lights up fine when one of the ribbon cables are disconnected from the main board, lights stay on but not getting half a picture, I do the same with the other ribbon and put the other one in and lights stay on but not getting half a picture. The standby light flashes 2 times then reboots then it then tries to come back on again and just keeps looping until I take either one of the ribbon tables out (doesn’t matter which one I take out it stays lit when either one is out).
