I am FRUSTRATING THE P*** out of myself trying to find a replacement MOSFET KF5N50FS

I don't get frustrated all that often, but when I do, I drink whiskey

I need to order a replacement for MOSFET KF5N50FS, but there are so many damn choices on DIGIKEY that I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE TO GET, or if ANY OF THEM ARE A CORRECT REPLACEMENT!!!!!

All the differences in specs are CONFUSING AND FRUSTRATING THE ABSOLUTE HELL OUT OF ME so I was hoping someone here may be able to help?

And dammit all to hell anyways WHY DO THEY MAKE THIS CRAP SO DAMN CONFUSING????? One part number and 8 million different specs? I mean for F*** sakes I'm about ready to go have a long visit with my Old Grand Dad!

That may be the best idea I've heard all day! I never heard of that place and they didn't seem to google. Are they stateside or overseas?

China, I buy from them all of the time, I buy IC chips from there and never had any problem

Darn, I almost hate to give someone in China my debit card number for fear of my bank account being drained. Ever had any trouble like that with them? Counterfeit parts? I hear stories about ordering from China....

Well , I don't like to give my debit card number period when making any purchase on anybody website local or international, I always use a credit card for all of my purchases on any website local or International

there is no protection when you use a debit card

but the website is safe when making any purchases by credit or debit card. this is a multi-millon company, credit card is best to use.

they also have other ways to pay like money gram

even if you paid with a debit card you should be okay. or you can buy one of the prepaid credit card and you should have protection that way too.

Right on, I like the pre-paid card idea....I may do just that for overseas ordering. GREAT idea!

I'd really like to know how to spec that out and find an identical spec one on Digikey. Maybe one of these days.

Thanks to you guys for your input and links. My frustration level has come way way down!

Chat with Digikey and explain you need a replacement part as good or better. They're pretty helpful.

                                General rules for MOSFETs.

PACKAGE - must be identical or mechanically compatible. Ensure that metal tab version replaced with metal tab. Ensure that plastic tab version replaced with plastic tab.

VDSS - must be same or higher

IDSS - must be same or higher

RDSon - must be same or lower

Qg(TOTAL) - must be same or lower

Vth - ideally same or lower; up to 0.5V higher is acceptable

                                          Hello guys,

I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.

I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow...

                                          Hi,
My laptop went dead and after checking ,the main 19 volt power rail was shorted. After some checks i could identify that a high side vcore mosfet was shorted.
I replaced the mosfet and now the white powerled is present , fans start spinning but capslock shows the famous 5 long and 3 short code.

I checked the vcore voltages after replacement and i get for all 1.01 V so means for me that the driver is still working of the replaced shorted mosfet. On the Nvidia i measure around 0.8 V after the mosfets.
I did voltage injection on the cpu with 0.7V and i have a current...

Recently I purchased a Tektronix TDS1012, a 20 years old product for cheap and I thought it could be a nice opportunity for playing (i.e. recapping) and learn something in the process.
The power supply board is exactly the same from this post so I'll just steal it for now.

I'm trying to find replacements for all those Lelon electrolytic caps, but then quickly...

How do you test MOSFET in laptops ?

I tried to use this method:

                                          Testing an N-channel MOSFET:

Step 1: Discharge the Gate (turn off the MOSFET)
Place the black probe (COM) on the Source (S) and the red probe on the Drain (D). The multimeter should show no continuity (high resistance or "OL" – open line).
Then, touch the black probe to the Source (S) and the red probe to the Gate (G). This discharges any stored charge in the Gate, turning the MOSFET off.

Step 2: Charge the Gate (turn on the MOSFET)
Now, place the red probe on the Gate (G) and the black probe on the
