    Insignia NS-43D420NA16

I am trying to bring this Insignia tv back to life. As you can see in the pic. I believe I have a toasted smc diode. Wondering if anyone has any Idea what fried it trying to fix it on the component level. Any help would be great. TV turns on has backlight just no image of anykind no menu nothing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks for your input. This is the power board/ video board /t-con board all in one special.

That my friend looks like a blown transistor rather than a diode.
If you look on the back of the board, it seems to be named QG1 (that is next to condensers CG3 and CG1). I would imagine if it was a diode, it would be DG1, not Q.

You need to find a schematic or service manual in order to find out what part used to sit there as from the picture it seems too burnt to read the code.
You may also want to try and find out if other parts are dead, even if they may look visually ok.
Maybe some other more experienced members can help you further with more details or hints.

If you have a component tester you can test the other Wy 5Gx device close-by to determine what it is. There are lots of cheap component testers out on the market.

That little SMD is something like a fet that turns the power to the Tcon and LCD on and off. So there is a massive short somewhere on the Tcon or on the LCD itself. If there is a tcon, it's probably junk and if the panel is shorted it will take a tcon out and the main board like that. Since it is an Insignia to start with, I'd just part it. This isn't a good easy repair, unless one has the proper tools and equipment. Probably there is a small thin Tcon tab bonded on the bottom of the LCD. At least check for shorts there, before you are making any repair attempt on the main.

Fair point made by CapLeaker. It would be worthwhile removing the faulty device (carefully) and checking the resistance (set off) from each of the 3 pads in turn to chassis to identify if and where there is a low resistance and follow it through to see which other component(s) may be short circuit. You may be lucky.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
              by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Mitsubishi CNC switching power supply board dead / relay board bad diode failure
              by sam_sam_sam
I was working on this CNC machine today found no keyboard functioning no control relay powering on
The screen powered on and was giving an operation error but the manual was not very clear about what the error exactly was but with a little bit of troubleshooting and finding out that the control relays not powering on and no keyboard functions we narrowed down to this one switching power supply which of course does not have any indicator LED light they are on the keyboard interface/relay controller board

Found shorted diodes on main controller relays there are 3 of them that...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
              by Hakuu
              Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

              More Details

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
              by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
