As the title says, I'm pretty sure ESD killed this panel. I was working on my second LED repair of the night. This one a Sanyo DP32D53. I replaced the LEDs, and was about to the panel back in place. I usually use a suction cup so I don't even have to touch the panel. I didn't on this one because it seemed easier to just lay it panel side down and lift the backlight assembly off the back. That went fine, but it was one of those flimsy thin bezels and the panel moved. I couldn't line it back up without flipping it and putting it back on the backlight assembly. When I touched the side of the panel to pick it up, got a pretty good static shock. When I finished the job and powered it on, I had a horizontal line right about where the ESD occurred. I have no way of knowing if the panel was good before the repair, so I'm really just assuming the ESD caused it, but the proximity of the ESD to where the line is leads me to believe it caused it. Has anyone else ever had this happen?

Good to know that it is at least plausible.
I think using a mattress as a work surface was a bad idea. Usually I at least put a sheet of cardboard under them. I'm working on a DIY cleanroom design because I do a lot of LED repairs, which are seriously complicated by dust and cat hair. I intend to make an ESD safe work bench with anti-static Formica, and ESD epoxy on the floor. Then I can just use a heel strap. It's going to be small, about 9x8, so the floor shouldn't be too much.

Cardboard would be worst.

I was thinking moving the panel on the mattress was more likely to build a charge than on cardboard, like stuffing your feet across a carpet. I'm going to go to Walmart and get one of those foil emergency blankets. Not sure how durable they are, but they're conductive and only about $3.------------signature starts here------------

Has anybody tried to use IR night vision goggles or other thermal imaging device to find a shorted line in a ribbon cable going from a panel driver board into the panel? I would think the shorted line would get hotter than the other lines and might just show up on a thermal imaging device. Just wondering if anyone has tried this and if so did it work? -
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!!

65x900h with the panel from a 65x930d.
900H: model yr 2020, Samsung panel
930D: model yr 2016, Innolux panel
spec wise the panels are the same. the drivers and tcons are obviously different but what made me want to give this a try is that the wiring diagrams for the data signals going into the tcon for each tv were nearly identical. there are only a couple pins that i am unsure about and that is what brings me here.
the 930d has the DPS board where the 900h has none, however, if you follow the pins to the BM1 it would appear that the signals...07-11-2023, 11:11 AM -

The setup: I got a Paradox EVO192 alarm panel, a serial-to-ethernet adapter and an official PCS250 GSM communicator.
The task (TL/DR): connecting both the ethernet adapter AND the communicator to the single serial port of the Paradox panel. Connecting their TX/RX lines in parallel the data would get all messed up. At the very most, I THINK I could parallel the RX pins of the ethernet adapter... -
Hello,
I was given this Samsung GU50TU8079U that would power cycle after a couple seconds, sometimes a few minutes. The screen would turned cloudy dark with the backlight still lit and then the sytem would restart.
Its one of the newer screwless Samsung models that I read a lot about panel failures here. It does not have a sperate T-CON board, just one ribon from the mainboard to the panel board and a U-shaped ribbon cable connecting the other half.
I went through the usual diagnostics:
unplugged the mainboard -> tv stayed on
removed the U-Shape robbon ->...
