    Samsung UN60EH600 UN55EH6000 Identical Problem

    I just got in a couple nice Samsungs.. Same series, one's a 55" one's a 60"

The both will give a backlight but nothing on the display panel..

I have replaced the Main Board on the 55 but no luck. I have a new TCON board coming..

But on the 60", there is an added twist..

The Power PCB had 2 blown caps (marked in red) plus a couple blackend charred areas... While pulling out the old caps, I kinda cracked the pcb, but the crack doesn't appear to have gone all the way thru the board..

I have had instances where a bad power PCB would produce the kind of symptom I am seeing, but it's somewhat unusual.. Usually when I get a back light but no display it's usually a TCON/MAIN issue..

Any suggestions on how to confirm??

Another weird thing is, when the TV is turned off, but plugged in, I pull the marked connector and the backlights come on...

That would seem to indicate some kind of short in the Power PCB???

No that's not weird at all. These TV power supplies are designed with pull up resistors so the back lights will come on when you disconnect connector that goes from the power supply to the main board.

I would check the usual stuff like 12v to the tcon board and removing one panel output ribbon cable at a time
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

OK.. I guess I just never pulled a connector off like that before..

Yea, I tried the ribbon cable thing.. I get a universal black screen regardless of which cable is pulled. No change in either side of the screen...

        Check 12V off the fuse???

Yes check 12v of both sides make sure it's not blown.. Like if there's 12 V coming in make sure this 12 V going out of the fuse.

The good news is the panel sound OK so far since removing one ribbon cable still provided a black picture

With the NEG Probe on chassis GND, I get -12.65V on either side of the TCON fuse...

You have your multimeter probes swapped. Anyway, your readings show the Tcon fuse is good.

Hard to tell. These are known for tcon failures with the THINE PWM IC.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

So, it's a pretty safe bet that the TCON is bad???
