Sharp Aquos LC-52D62U "an incompatible video signal has been received"

As they say... Onward and upward...

I have a Sharp... I get a "an incompatible video signal has been received. Check the output device settings" message when I try to hook anything up to HDMI...

    Component and Composite is unaffected..

Research indicates that it's likely more of a setting issue than a hardware one..

But I'll be darned if I can find out how to address it..

    Anyone have any ideas???

At the source, take "auto" anything off and set a specific resolution. Try lower ones first. Basically, when the source is trying to read the EID settings of the display, either the information is not right or it is having trouble trying to read it and hence, can't resolve what resolution it needs to send so it is picking one that the display isn't able to handle. Further, unplug things, power and signal. Then plug in signal, then power, then power up the display followed by the source and see if that changes anything as perhaps an initialization sequence isn't happening well.

Further, what kind of hdmi device are you trying to use?

      Thanx for the reply, budwich...

I have tried several sources.. BluRay player w/ HDMI output... XBOX 360 and PS3.. I even did a RESET VIDEO on the PS3 which drops the PS3 down to the lowest resolution..

      Nothing seems to help...

Yea, done the video reset.. no joy...

There doesn't seem to be a firmware update for the 52D62U... Only the 64U and 65U...

no problem.... i did not want to soil budm's good name... ☺

you didnt indicate whether you are ensuring that the source setting/setup has auto turned off.... most source players are set with it as default.

Input 4 & 5 are HDMI... unless you mean the audio input on #4...

yes but there are mode settings for each input.. this can be changed from the remote.

Probably BGA.. Grab a hair dryer and heat up that processor where the HDMI connections go. Follow the traces on the main board from the HDMI connectors and whatever processor there connecting to try heating that one up with a hair dryer or a hot air station . If that doesn't work it's probably a bad HDMI codec processor if it is separate from the main processor

as freakaftr8 indicate, possible main board issue.... my experience with 42d60u could not get it to recognize 3hdmis but it didnt complain either. replaced main board fixed in the end... but try the heat up tech.

OK I have it on INPUT #4 HDMI.... I get sound, but no video..

Under the menu settings/option there is an HDMI setup option that looks like this:

ensure that the label has not been set to pc as that will cause problems.

                                      OK Progress... of sorts..

Up in comment #16 there is a pic of HDMI Setup...

In that, the SIGNAL TYPE is ghosted...

I changed the label from INPUT 4 to HDMI and I was able to select SIGNAL TYPE..

The GOOD news, I didn't get the INCOMPATIBLE SIGNAL error message..

The BAD news is, I didn't get any kind of display at all..

That happened if I selected RGB and either YCbCr option...

I found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display...

I have a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE757U that randomly made a loud popping noise when when watching TV one day. We found that the fuse blew and the thermistor. We ended up replacing the entire power supply board and have also replaced the TCON board. Now as soon as I plug the TV in it lights up and has the Sharp logo flashing on and off of the screen. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the TCON board to the main board I get the 2 long 5 short error code. Any ideas on where to go from here? We've tried resetting it but nothing has worked. If we plug it in and let it cycle through the flashing of the Sharp...

                                          Hello!

I'm a few days old into this TV screens repair universe so please bear with me.

Recently, and all of a sudden my 40” 4K Sharp Aquos LCD TV turned on with colors all smudged in some places on the screen that remain like that even without any kind of video source. I do have image but the colors are smudged/tinted/ washed out in patches as per defects. This to me looks similar to burn in but I’m shore this is not an OLED.

                                          - I did the classic unplug and hold power button to discharge the caps but it didn't help.
                                          - I did a factory reset as well...

                                          Hi community,

I will describe my problem with a TV in those short following terms to be the most precise :

                                          What i have :
                                          Sharp Aquos LC-60LE635E
                                          power board DPS-162KP-1
                                          main logic board QPWBXF733WJN2

                                          symptoms :
white led light logo at startup,
after 2 minutes, blinking 3 times a row, repeating
no backlight (and apparently no picture, checked panel with flashlight)
                                          no startup sound

                                          powerboard investigations :

                                          1-2 PNL : 0v
                                          3-4 GND
                                          5-6-7-8 UR : 13.15v
                                          9-10-11-12...

Can anyone help me diagnose this? Almost not worth bothering with, but it has 'sentimental value' for the owner. I'm no TV technician, but dabble a bit.
The TV has standby power but no reaction at all to switching on or reboot steps, No flashing lights or response to menu button. All voltages on the power board are correct apart from missing voltage on pin 12 of CN7003.
There is 13 v on U7053 but no 3v signal to switch it on. I don't really understand whether the 3v should come from U7401 in the standby control area, or (as suggested elsewhere) from the mainboard via pin 12....
