My mother in law has a sharp LC-37d64u tv that has a cable box hooked up to it, the tv randomly loses video/audio but when it does it if I hit the channel up/down button on the remote to change the channel on the cable box the audio will kick back in but no video, I have tried a couple of t-con boards in it just assuming that's what it was but tonight was the 1st time I actually seen it do it, when it does go out the menu screen and volume bar for the tv is all still visible/working, would I be right in saying that it is probably the main board as I have tried it in both HDMI ports and swapped out her digital box to eliminate a bad HDMI port/ bad cable box

You probably already tried a different hdmi cable, might be time to test your power supply board, be careful if you do, the voltage on the hot side can be deadly. -
Re: Sharp LC-37D64U intermittent video loss
I took the back off but I don't have my meter here to test anything, there are 2 red LEDs on the main board with the hdmis that are flashing, 1 is flashing almost twice as fast as the other, I don't know if it was coincidence or not but I unplugged the same board when it was plugged in and turned on with no video and plugged right back in and the video kicked back inComment

Re: Sharp LC-37D64U intermittent video loss
Need a meter to troubleshoot, without that it's strictly speculation, even the 9 dollar ones from menards are good enough for most testing.Comment

Re: Sharp LC-37D64U intermittent video loss
Hate to guess at things but if I had to without testing, being intermittent, I'd start with power supply board.Comment

Re: Sharp LC-37D64U intermittent video loss
It does sound like a main board problem, just can't tell for sure without testing.Comment

Re: Sharp LC-37D64U intermittent video loss
Can you try the hdmi hookup on something else besides the cable box, dvd player, pc, android box etc. and see if it does the same thing?Comment

Re: Sharp LC-37D64U intermittent video loss
Another test you could hook up a regular indoor antenna, set tv to over the air instead of cable scan for channels, if you can watch tv without any problems, then most likely main board.Comment

Re: Sharp LC-37D64U intermittent video loss
I'm watching the Olympics on an LC-46D64U that I fixed last week. Well, not really watching, just running some test hours before I move it. Anyway, your set uses the same Broadcom BCM3553 main chip. The 2 leds on the main that you see are the cpu and microcontroller activity leds. I haven't found anything that detailed flash patterns on those. If you had a communication, power, backlight, panel, or just about any other problem, the microcontroller would send a flash code to the power and opc leds on the front. I'd be willing to bet that the intermittent flaky behavior of the set is being caused by ball failure on that BCM3553. So your thought to replace the main is probably a good one.
If you wanted to try a few other things before ordering the main:
1. Check all of the power rails on the main (see pic below- check both sides
of the inductors).
2. Do a factory init. and rescan for channels.
3. Download the firmware and reload it.Comment

by CDNBrewerHello Everyone,
I have an Onkyo TX-SR353 Audio/Video Receiver (5.1 ch with HDMI) that I am having a really hard time diagnosing and I'm about to throw this in the junk and go buy a new unit that is on sale until the 7th.
Symptoms:- Intermittent (part of the reason why i'm having a hard time isolating problem), sometimes will work for 10+h at a time without issue
- Original symptom was wife reported loud banging noise (like someone was banging on the wall with their fists) from the LEFT SURROUND speaker and then the unit shut off.
- I swapped the Left and Right surround

by eccerr0rAnyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.
Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...
Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...-

Hi friends
I have reverse engineered this tester, schematic is attached and is complete except for capacitor values. These testers annoyingly have no model number but they are the ones you find on the first page of just about any website if you type in "18650 4-channel tester". There is also a 2-channel variant and a newer 8-channel variant. They are very cheap (about £15) and can measure voltage, current, internal resistance and capacity. They have a multicolour display for all these statistics. They also have terminal blocks so that if you want to use a breakout board... -
Hello everyone, first time posting here so I hope I'm doing everything right.
I just came into possession of a Sharp Aquos LC70LE755U. It was free for me, so with the stand and power cable I only have $30 in this. As such, I'm trying to repair it for cheap.
It works most of the time perfectly, except for an issue with what I think is the power supply. After anywhere from 10-30 minutes of usage, the screen backlight will flicker briefly, and the sound will completely stop working. The sound doesn't start working until I unplug the TV, wait a few seconds, and plug it... - Loading...
