    Epson Powerlite 3020e video issue

I have just picked this projector up, for $20.
It starts up, shows no error lights. Menu shows on screen, blue screen is on.
When I play a movie, the sound is on and a small line at the top is the video signal.
I can see a double image, like in a 3D, side by side view only.
Anybody has any experience with projectors?
I did not open it up yet. I don't have the remote for it.
I believe that this is a 3LCD type projector.
    Any help, would be appreciated.

Re: Epson Powerlite 3020e video issue

I have tested, the HDMI, Component, composite and VGA inputs and none of them show any image. It will show the same line on top.
When I placed a picture on a USB stick, it showed a beautiful image.
I'm guessing, that maybe there is some vertical, or horizontal sync issue.
I will have to open it up, and see what is inside.

Definitely a problem with the signal processing board. Is there a processor that takes all incoming connections that might be separate from the USB connection?

I have just removed the top cover.
I will have to study it first and I will take some pictures, and I will post them here.
A coworker said, that there might be some kind of horizontal sync issue.

Sync issue? Wonder if somebody was in the service menu play with offsets? Or possibly a corrupt eeprom

Re: Epson Powerlite 3020e video issue

I have picked it up, from a service center.
I have done some research and it seems like, nobody is selling only the mainboard.
It is for sale, with the optical engine together, which is almost $1600(!).
In that tiny horizontal line, the video plays OK.
It must be something, that is common to all video sources.
Most of the chips, are Epson and most likely, are proprietary(no info about them).

I have started inspecting the board, but I did not see anything obviously wrong.
I have also started identifying ICs on the board.
Unfortunately, I can't find any info, about most of the ICs. Most likely, they are proprietary Epson Ics.
                  There is a ST FLi32626H (Single-chip enhanced LCD TV controller), Lattice LFXP2-5E-5FTN256C (available at Digikey), 2 x Epson EV0805SA, Epson EV2006XA, EPSON E07140K0B, 2 X IDT V105ADAG/ZA51331J, PANASONIC MN864773AKE (HDMI), TEXAS INSTRUMENTS TMDS261B (2 in 1 HDMI switch).
These are some quick phone pictures. In the weekend, I will take some proper ones, outside at sun light and with camera and stand.

Re: Epson Powerlite 3020e video issue

This projector, is an LCD based projector. It has three tiny LCDs, for the three colors, red blue and green.
My issue is, that on all the signals, I have the same issue, 99% of the image is gone. Only that tiny top line is a good image.
Another weird thing is, that in that tiny band the image is doubled, side by side.
It is very clear and sharp, and shows the right image that should be there.
In a TV, could be a T-con board issue, or a mainboard issue.
Visually, I don't see anything wrong on the board.
Another weird thing that I have noticed that, when there is a video source plugged in, I can't bring up anything(Manu, Source) on the screen.
I have no idea where to look.

I would start by heating up the board especially around processors and ram IC's. I wouldn't worry so much about the Panasonic chip as that is the HDMI codec. Something that video processes all inputs but odd that the menu is good. Maybe the EV08055a and ram modules there. The big E silver processor. Did that have a heat sync?

That means the T-CON board is OK, it is something on the main board but what is exactly bad I do not know.

It seems like, the USB ports and the Menu system, bypasses the video section.
Something that is common to all the inputs may be causing the problem, but without a SM and proprietary parts, will be almost impossible.
It could be the ST FLi32626H?

Doubt flash memory. Unless it took a bad firmware?

There is no firmware available for this projector.
What could cause side by side image?
I have even removed the auto iris mechanism, and opened up the two shutters, to be sure that nothing blocks the light. There was no change.
I will remove one of the LCDs and I will tun on the projector, with the LCD installed on the top of the board.
This way, I can see the actual picture, that will show up on the LCD, is exactly what I'm seeing on the wall.

side by side imaging is used for 3d display with appropriate glasses. is there any kind of factory reset capability in the menu somewhere?

further, have you looked at the user manual? it is possible that you may need a remote if you can't find some sort of factory reset.

There is a factory reset, and I have reset it a couple of times already. No change though.
Last night, I have programmed my Logitech Harmony Touch and I have tried it, but did not react to any of the commands.

                                    It is fixed.
I have programmed my Logitech Harmony Touch remote, reassigned the signal from the hub(RF) to the remote(IR) and the remote worked right away, with the projector.
I have hit 3D Format on the remote, went two steps down with the remote(blindly, no image) and hit OK. I had an image!!
It was 3D top and bottom, but at least it was an image. Side by side worked as well, but Auto and 2D went back to the thin top bar.
I still have a hard time, getting white instead of yellow, that I'm getting now.
These ribbon cables are the worst, super thin and no tabs to grab them.
Hopefully, I will be able to get it eventually, inserted properly.
Some they sell these, for $700-$1200.
I got it for $20. No remote, 2x3D glasses, or wireless transmitter though.
                                    Thank you for the help.

Hey everybody, got a strange one here.

The TV will display the Home Screen, Menus, Netflix Home Screen, YouTube home screen with preview tiles, etc, without issue. As soon as I try to play video (streaming or from any of the HDMI inputs), all I get is audio and and blank screen. It's like the video is not being processed. So I ordered a replacement main board. I can now play video from streaming sources but the video from HDMI sources is all green (kinda like photo negatives but all green) and the audio does not work. Is it possible the main board I ordered is also failing?? I can't...

Hello I have a HP elitedesk 800 G5 Desktop mini with a boot issue. I have the lights and fan come on (normal speed), There is no video. I was working fine, posting with initial HP logo before and then it just stopped. Now it just turns on with power LED, fan on, No video and no response to keystrokes. The LEDs on the keyboard also stay off.
I have attached the main and EC bios dumps here. I have also tried to clean ME and reflashed again, but I am unsure if I did it correctly or not. Attached are the pre-cleaned Bios Dumps. Please help fix this. Thank you very much,

                                      Hi,

I have confirmed that I have a mainboard problem.
I have tracked no hardware issued on board so might be a software dump required.

I have searched a bit but wasn't able to find anything for my screen:

                                      Here are some more details:
                                      Panel: cy-nn065hgev1h
                                      Main: BN94-14180M P08F

                                      Your help much appreciated!
