Selecline 39182 Sound but no Picture

Hi guys
Got this Selecline Model 39182 The owner says it has sound but no picture but I didn't have a AV source handy (I'm just in the process of moving my workshop over to a new premises and need to get Internet and TV Antenna installed) however there is no back light so I am sure the customer is right.

On power up the power indicator LED flashes on 7 times then goes off. It then does not respond to the remote, or at least the power light stays off

The PSU is Vestel. The pins on the output connector are unmarked (checked both sides of the PCB) but checking the voltage on the various banks of Electrolytics on the secondary I can see I have stable +12V and +116V supplies. There is just about zero volts on the connector the the LED back lights

Anyone got a schematic of the PSU or at least a pin out for the output connector so I know what voltages and signals I should have, STBY, BL_ON etc

I will add Selecline to the list of Vestel Brands thread, as a forum search found no reference to it

Oh after posting I googled the model of the Vestel PSU 17IPS20 and just found a video on you tube regards no back lights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPI1QBE0CxI

Schematics. Check that they match your power supply.

Thanks for the schematics, it looks like I have an OC LED. Maybe I've just been lucky I've not had a bad LED before

How do I get at the LEDs, do I take the panel off from the front or get the cover off from the rear

Thank you that video was very helpful

OK so I used the same technique as the video and got to the LED strips. Using my bench PSU set to about 70mA I tested each of the five strips. Four worked fine, the centre one lights up very dim, but with one LED out.

The LED that does not illuminate reads OC on my meter diode test, testing the one next to it, the LED illuminates with about 2.4V forward drop

It looked like I had a bad copper track next to the defective LED but I tested continuity from the adjacent LED bead and it's fine.

So I know the problem - what sort of LED beads are these? I took some pics there is a part number on the strip. There are 9 led beads per strip

VES390 UNDA-01 is the part number you are looking for.
Do a search for flocko on this site using the search above who may be able to offer you suitable replacements

if you can remove a led and measure the physical package size of the led, also on the bottom of the led we would need to know if the anode pad is the large or small one.

Hi, yes I found that listing on ebay - I don't know if the UNDA-01 and UNDC-01 is essentially the same

Mr flocko passed me on to Microtechservice so I am waiting a reply

I removed the faulty LED. The big tab is the Anode

I think the difference between UNDA and UNDC may be te polarity of the large tab? This listing has the polarity illustration UNDC = large tab Cathode maybe

Looks like 45 leds in series and the capacitor alongside the led connector is rated at 200 volts. If the voltage was say 170V then with 45 leds = 3.78V per led so not likely to be 6V leds but more like 3 volt leds.

HI guys - here's an update to this thread. The TV is fixed

Basically I managed to fix the TV by 'cobbling' it, so to speak.

I had a white 1W LED bead in my stock of salvaged bits (came off a broken 'magic crystal ball' disco light)

Anyway I stuck that down to the strip with some heat conductive glue about a centimeter below the position of the bad LED, removed the bad LED and wired my bead to the LED strip using a couple of short leads then glued the diffuser back on top of it with clear epoxy.

It's been working fine now for about a week and you can't see any visible difference on the screen.

Since then I did get a message from MicroTECH who does have the correct ones, so I am gonna order some of the correct LEDs to keep in stock as there seem to be a lot of Vestel TVs in Gran Canaria
