LG 55UH770-UB Backlights & Audio & Narrow Vertical Band Only

Okay this is the newest tv I've picked up so far. It's a 4K Ultra HD Smart tv. No signs of external damage. Plugged it in and there's back lights and about a 2" wide vertical band about 1/3 in from one side.

This TV is just over a year old and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas just from the images where the issue might be.

I've put some pic's. Overall, psb, t-con, main board, one side t-con ribbon to panel disconnected, the other side t-con ribbon to panel disconnected. If I disconnect the cable into the t-con I get backlights and no vertical band with the one side and with the vertical band with the other side. I tried this with and with out signal into HDMI 1. My laptop sees the connection to the device (switches to external display mode).

No chime, no splash screen logo (if there's supposed to be one), nothing when I hit any of the navigation buttons on the tv. I have a remote from some other LG tv that seems to work this one so - I get static sound when I change the input. I also get audio from my laptop into HDMI 1.

    Next steps?

The line is panel failure at the source drivers. The blank screen, possibly tcon.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

So would you suggest selling the PSB, Main Board & stand and scrapping the rest? Or would you think the main board is also suspect and shouldn't be sold as "working".

Honestly the only thing that I would consider selling is a power supply because the main board LVDS output should be scoped to make sure it's sending signals to the tcon. Could be a simple fix if you remove covers to access source ribbons to the panel and press on that failed connection. Maybe it will go away? The panel is receiving some voltages or that line wouldn't be there.

Thanks... I've seen some of those posts where pressure on the tab bond "resolves" issue temporarily. Guess I'll give it a shot b/4 parting out the psb.

          Thanks

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
            by Daren87
            Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
            by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

            Sharp LC80UH30U Vertical Band
            by AJ2021
            Hi all,

I just moved to a new apartment and now I got a vertical band on my tv. The band is changing colors all the time. Is there a fix for this? If someone has had the same problem and fixed it I would really appreciate the help as I am retired and on a fixed income and cannot afford a new tv.

I can change any boards and bad caps but I'm not good with a volt meter.

Thank you very much for any assistance....

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
            by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...
